TALLAHASSEE, Fla. --Thad Busby's throwing and the play of third-ranked Florida State's defense highlighted the Seminoles' second scrimmage of the preseason on Saturday afternoon in Doak Campbell Stadium.
The Seminole defense allowed just two touchdowns in the 70-play, regular situation portion of the scrimmage.
"Today's scrimmage was a lot better than the first one," said FSU head coach Bobby Bowden. "The No. 1 defense did not give up a score again and the second defense was a lot stingier. Overall, I was pleased with our work. We looked more like a team today."
Busby completed 10-of-20 passes for 197 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. He hit E.G Green with a 21-yard scoring strike and completed a 27-yarder for a score to Laveranues Coles. Busby also hooked up with Peter Warrick for a touchdown pass in redzone drills.
"Busby looked very sharp," said Bowden. "He has thrown the ball very well so far and has put it where it needs to be."
Green led all Seminole receivers with six catches for 147 yards. Damian Harrell had four receptions for 63 yards while Coles had two for 36 yards.
Andre Wadsworth highlighted the defense's day. Wadsworth, who moved from noseguard to defensive end last spring, had a team-high seven tackles and recorded four quarterback sacks. The Seminole defense registered 10 sacks on the day. Other defensive highlights included Theon Rackley's interception of a Busby pass and a Larry Smith fumble recovery.
Tailback Dee Feaster suffered a bruised right shoulder early in the scrimmage and did not return. Other injuries included: WR Laveranues Coles, right shoulder separation; WR E.G. Green, right thigh strain; WR Peter Warrick, lower back contusion; OG Jeremy Brett, right shoulder strain; FS Dexter Jackson, strained right groin. Freshman tailback Travis Minor was held out of the scrimmage with a right ankle sprain.
