Former FSU Quarterback and Broadcaster Vic Prinzi Dies

TALLAHASSEE, FL -- Vic Prinzi, who quarterbacked the Seminoles from 1954-58 and led the fledgling program to some of its most impressive wins, died Wednesday in Tampa after a battle with lung cancer.

Prinzi, 63, starred for the Seminoles playing both quarterback and defensive back. As a freshman in 1954, he teamed in the offensive backfield with Burt Reynolds and the two remained life long friends. Prinzi was co-captain of the 1958 squad that earned a trip to the Bluegrass Bowl. During that same season, he led the Seminoles to a historic 10-0 win at Tennessee. He went on to play briefly for the New York Giants and Denver Broncos, before joining the high school and college coaching ranks for 12 seasons.

Prinzi had served as the football color analyst on the Seminole Radio Network for the last 16 years. He was inducted into the FSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 1988.
