TALLAHASSEE, FL -- The No. 4 Florida State Seminoles held their last full pad practice before their New Year's Day Sugar Bowl matchup with No. 10 Ohio State with an 18-period practice.
Billy Rhodes worked at fullback as Khalid Abdullah sat out with an injured neck. Rhodes, a junior, began the season at defensive line before moving to offensive line and eventually fullback.
"Abdullah might be questionable with his neck injury," said head coach Bobby Bowden. "We will have to see how severe it is when we get the results from the MRI. Lamarr Glenn is listed No. 1 at fullback with William McCray behind him. Glenn has had a good week of practice, blocking well and running hard. Rhodes will be used primarily as a blocker."
Coach Bowden named the academic tomahawk award winners before today's session with senior linebacker Daryl Bush collecting the most on the team.
"We haven't had anyone play the student-athlete role as well as Daryl has," said Bowden. "He has been a four-year starter for us while also earning a graduate and undergraduate degree."
Injury report: OL Eric Thomas - mild right knee MCL sprain; FB Billy Rhodes - mild concussion; WR Laveranues Coles - mild left knee MCL sprain; LB Deon Humphrey - mild burner. FB Khalid Abdullah (burner) and DL Char-ron Dorsey (right knee irritation) were held out this afternoon.
The team will hold a light workout tomorrow morning before breaking for the holiday. They will also vote on permanent captains tomorrow morning.
