Florida State Football Holds Final Practice for Orange Bowl

Dec. 30, 2003

Miami, FL - The Florida State Seminoles (10-2, 7-1 ACC) wrapped up their final preparations for the 2004 Orange Bowl against the Miami Hurricanes (10-2, 6-1 BIG EAST) on Tuesday afternoon. FSU worked out for 15 periods to put the final touches on the game plan for the Hurricanes. Florida State and Miami will be meeting for the first time in postseason play when they take the field on New Year's Day.

"We have prepared the same way we would for a National Championship game," said head coach Bobby Bowden. "It's really been beautiful for us this week for us. The location and the weather couldn't have been any better. Practices have gone about as normal as they usually do. We've followed the same procedures as always. Hopefully we'll be able to get experience for some of our younger guys heading into next season."

Starting defensive end Eric Moore, who sprained his ankle in practice Saturday, is listed as probable for Thursday's game. Cornerbacks Leroy Smith (sprained ankle) and Bryant McFadden (groin) are also listed as probable.

The 2004 Orange Bowl is scheduled for an 8:30 p.m. kickoff Thursday night at Pro Player Stadium. The game will be televised by ABC with Brad Nessler, Bob Griese and Lynn Swann calling the action.
