TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  - Mondays are always better when you are looking back at the mistakes made during a win. Unfortunately that was not the case this Monday night. Florida State spent 12 periods going over this past Saturday's loss to the Eagles. The Seminoles won't spend much time focusing on last weekend with a trip versus a ranked Terp team looming. Especially since FSU has lost its last two times it has traveled to Maryland's Byrd Stadium.

PRACTICE QUOTES

Head Coach Bobby Bowden

On Maryland's offense:

"They look good. They're very comparable to BC. I think if you took all of the teams from the conference and said whose style is like whose, they and BC are very much alike. Good running game, good strong running game, and they've got an excellent passer at quarterback and excellent receivers. They're a good football team."

On the Maryland's defense:

"It will be different, it will be different. You'll get four linebackers that can come, that's the thing about it. They can send any linebacker from four different directions at you. They can send two. I think that's where they get their variety out of it. Normally they're going to either play a 3-3 or bring one of those guys up and make it a 4-2 with the other linebacker floating."

Offensive line Coach Rick Trickett

On the offensive line's performance against Boston College:

"On the film, we had about four runs that'd probably going to go for touchdowns like we have been in the weeks before. We've got one guy that don't get his guy. We've got one guy, hits a guy, falls down, the guy runs over the top and makes the play. We told him earlier in the game, `don't cut, stay up.' We went rat trap out there, what I call rat trap. The techniques, the things that we've been teaching, it didn't even look like the same bunch. You just go back out here at square one tonight. They got the message tonight, I promise you, they're going to get a bigger one tomorrow."

On BC being the first bad game technically for the offensive line:

"This is the first really down. That's what I told Coach Bowden today, this was the one game that, I mean, we've made a few mistakes and things on some different things, but technically we've been there pretty good and it always gave us a chance to win inside, and the two tackles played pretty decent. We were bad inside...We were overreaching everything. We were so much quicker then they were. We were way by `em. This is probably the best our tackles have ever reached people."

RB Antone Smith

On the success of all ACC teams this season:

"You can't even count Duke out anymore.  The past few years Duke has been challenging everybody and they've won like four or five games this year, I'm not sure, but they're just winning.  The ACC is a very stiff conference and we've just got to keep progressing and get Florida State back to the top.  Being one of the top-runners in the ACC, we've just got to get back to the top."

RV Roosevelt Lawson

On the opportunity to play more against Maryland than he has all season:

"I feel like it's a long time coming.  I feel like with this game I can more validate my career here, it's my last year.  I've just got to run more during practice so I won't be below what I'm used to doing.  I'm used to maybe about 20 plays and I know Myron [Rolle] usually gets about six in, six to 20, so I know if I've got to do six then I've got to be prepared. And I do all the special team plays.

"Other than that we're rotating out here and he helps me and I help him.  And I feel ready; I don't feel like this week is any different as far as preparing.  I'm prepared every week."

On when he found out about Rolle possibly missing the Maryland game:

"As a matter of fact Clint (Purvis), our team chaplain, hinted to me maybe two or three weeks ago.  He said `alright now Roosevelt, be ready for the Maryland game' and I had no idea what he was talking about.  Then something happened and Myron was in the locker room I think last week and he confirmed it.  So I kind of had it in my head but I didn't want to say anything because I'd be let down if I really felt like I was getting all these plays and I don't."

RV Myron Rolle

On the tough loss to Boston College:

"They were very big and we knew that going into the game it was going to be a physical game and it certainly was.  But they played well and they played very disciplined and had a good scheme against us.  And we made some uncharacteristic penalties that hurt us in the long run.  But we've got to rebound and do better this week."

On playing a very good Maryland team that hasn't lost at home yet:

"[Maryland] is a very formidable opponent and they're very similar to Boston College.  It's a very physical team, big; they can present you with some speed on the outside as well. So we have to come in prepared but most importantly have a great week of practice in preparation for that game."

INJURY UPDATE

The results of the MRI on the left knee of safety Darius McClure was not available at the end of practice on Monday.
