Statement from Head Coach Bobby Bowden

"I am disappointed in Jeff's decision. I tried my best to encourage him to stay the course, but he was

firm in his belief that it is time to move on. This is a big loss to me personally. I would hope that everyone

understands that his decision is an emotional one for me and for that reason I'm not going to discuss it any

further at this time."

Statement from FSU Director of Athletics Dave Hart

"Jeff (Bowden) initiated this conversation with me within the past day or so. At that point, we were on a

parallel plane of mutual understanding and agreement that this decision was in the best interest of all concerned

and a public announcement should be expedited.

Everyone associated with our football program expresses appreciation to Jeff for his dedication to

Florida State University and we wish him nothing but the best."
