TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Jermaine Thomas' breakout game last weekend certainly was noticed by the Maryland defenders.
The senior tailback was also noticed by Florida State fans, too.
After every FSU win, I poll Seminoles fans on Twitter, asking them to tweet me their votes for the game's MVP. Thomas registered the majoprity of those votes this week after he ran for a season-best 86 yards on just nine carries while also adding a touchdown run against the Terrapins.
Thomas had played sparingly before last Saturday after missing time during fall camp and dropping down the depth chart behind fellow veterans Chris Thompson and Ty Jones and budding freshman star Devonta Freeman.
But after a back injury sustained in the Wake Forest game sidelined Thompson for the rest of the season, Thomas' role has increased dramatically. He enters this weekend's contest against NC State as FSU's all-time leader in rushing yards against the Wolfpack in one game. Back in 2009, Thomas racked up 186 yards on 20 carries on the 'Noles' 45-42 win over NC State.
Thomas edged out fullback Lonnie Pryor and the offensive line for MVP votes this week.
Remember to follow me on Twitter at @BrandonMellor so that you can participate in the voting after each Florida State win.
Here are some of the best votes and comments I received this week:
@TrueNOLE06: "MVP is the Oline, great pass pro and run blocking especially late in the game! And disciplined ball no costly penalties"
@jrehm23: "EJ. Was good to see the big man back."
