Florida State University and the University of Alabama have announced formally today that they will play a neutral site football game on Saturday, September 29, 2007 in Jacksonville, Florida.
With the cooperation of ESPN/ABC, CBS, the Atlantic Coast Conference and the Southeastern Conference, television rights issues have been resolved and the one-time neutral site game will be played. The game will be televised by either CBS or ESPN. That decision will be made two weeks prior to the game.
"Our respective television partners have come to a resolution which enables us to formally move forward to bringing this match-up to contract in 2007 in Jacksonville. This should generate a lot of anticipation and excitement among both fan bases," said Dave Hart, Director of Athletics at Florida State.
"Both parties can now focus on completing the contractual agreement, in conjunction with the city of Jacksonville, to stage this football game between two of college football's most storied programs. This is a very satisfying result," Hart added.
