Football Available Live Via Pay-Per-View In Florida

Sept. 22, 1999

ORLANDO - Sunshine Network and Florida State University today announced that the Wake Forest at Florida State college football game on October 16 (7 p.m.) will be made available live via pay-per-view (PPV) to viewers of participating cable systems, DISH Network and C-Band satellite subscribers and commercial establishments throughout Florida.

The live PPV airing will be in addition to Sunshine Network's taped presentations of the game airing statewide on the regional network to more than 4.8 million homes on Sunday, October 17, at 7 p.m. and Monday, October 18, at 1:00 a.m. (ET). Sunshine Network's FSU announcers Mike Goldberg (play-by-play) and Keith Jones (analyst) call the action live from Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee.

Per Atlantic Coast Conference television contracts, when an ACC team does not have its game selected by ABC, ESPN or Jefferson-Pilot, it is permitted to televise that game live on a statewide basis only on pay-per-view. Therefore, Sunshine Network cannot air these games live on the network, but can make them available to cable systems and satellite distributors to deliver via pay-per-view.

The game will be offered, through Sunshine Network, to cable systems, DISH Network and C-band satellite subscribers throughout the state and distributed to individual subscribers at a suggested retail price of $24.95 in advance and $29.95 on game day. Cable systems electing to offer the game on pay-per-view will designate a channel location, separate from Sunshine Network's channel, for the pay-per-view presentation. Interested viewers should call their local cable company for further details.
