Our 13 for 13 series rolls along today as we take a look a senior linebacker Christian Jones. Just like teammate Lamarcus Joyner, Jones chose to come back to Tallahassee for his senior season and lead an outstanding group of linebackers.
He enjoyed his best season as a Seminole in 2012 as the team's leading tackler. With 95 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, and two fumble recoveries, Jones was a force to be reckoned with and was one of the ACC's most dominant and consistent defensive players.
What makes Jones so unique as a linebacker is his versatility. He can play sam, mike, or will linebacker, he can split out and cover receivers and tight ends, and he can even rush off the edge. From speed to strength and agility, Jones is as complete a defensive player as they come.
He will have a bigger role in 2013 with the departure of Vince Williams to the NFL and will be counted on to lead by example alongside fellow veteran Telvin Smith. Both he and Smith make up one of the best duos of linebackers in the entire country and should be even better this season.
Look for Jones to continue to his stellar play and be a big foundation for new defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. Come back on Tuesday as we continue our 13 for 13 countdown with junior running back James Wilder, Jr.
