TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Twleve days of preseason award watch lists proved to be fruitful for the Florida State football team as Brandon Jenkins capped off the summertime ritual with his inclusion as an early candidate for the Walter Camp Award, presented to the nation's most outstanding player.
Starting July 12 and concluding Friday, July 20, watch lists for college football's biggest award were released daily. In total, 20 FSU candidates were for the 15 honors presented at the end of the season.
Jenkins may have been the final Seminole to appear on a watch list with his recognition by the Walter Camp Football Foudation but it wasn't the star defensive end's only appearance this preseason. Jenkins is also included on watch lists for the Bednarik Award, Lombardi Award and Bronko Nagursky Trophy.
A starter for the past 27 consecutive games, Jenkins has led the 'Noles in tackles for loss and sacks the previous two seasons.
Jenkins enters his final season in Tallahassee ranked eighth in program history in tackles for loss (36.5) and eighth in sacks (21.5).

DAVEY O'BRIEN AWARD (Presented to the nation's best quarterback by the Davey O'Brien Foundation)
OUTLAND TROPHY (Presented to the nation's most outstanding interior lineman by the FWAA)
JIM THORPE AWARD (Presented to the nation's best defensive back by the Jim Thorpe Association)
