Jim Gladden Named Assistant Head Coach At FSU

July 10, 2000

TALLAHASSEE, FL. -- Florida State head coach Bobby Bowden announced Monday that longtime assistant Jim Gladden has been named assistant head coach. Gladden, who is beginning his 26th season as a member of the Florida State staff, assumes the role formerly held by current NC State head coach Chuck Amato. Gladden has been a part of a program that has had 23 straight winning seasons and set NCAA records with 13 consecutive 10-win seasons and AP top four finishes.

"Jim's loyalty and enthusiasm for FSU has been at the highest level for 25 years," said Bowden. "His quality is proven and he has been an exceptional coach. He will pick up right where Chuck (Amato) left off."

Gladden will be responsible for handling many of Coach Bowden's administrative duties and will continue to work with the defensive ends.

During his 25 years at FSU, Gladden has produced some of the Seminoles' top NFL talent including former Oakland Raider Willie Jones, Tampa Bay's Derrick Brooks, Arizona's Andre Wadsworth, Baltimore's Peter Boulware and Cincinnati's Reinard Wilson.
