Seminoles Win Scorefest, 48-35 over N.C. State
Thad Busby set career highs with 463 yards and five touchdowns as number three Florida State outscored North Carolina State, 48-35, in a record-breaking Atlantic Coast Conference shootout.
The Seminoles (8-0, 6-0 ACC) set up the battle for the conference title next weekend, when they visit unbeaten North Carolina. But Florida State surprisingly lost its imposing defense, allowing 448 yards and Torry Holt an ACC-record five touchdown catches.
The Seminoles had 517 yards of total offense behind Busby, who completed 26-of-36 passes, primarily from the shotgun set. Florida State got career highs of 184 yards and three scores from E.G. Green, who caught eight passes. Green has catches in 35 straight games, extending his own school record.
Freshman tailback Travis Minor was a double-threat out of the backfield, running 10 times for 64 yards and a touchdown while catching seven passes for 56 yards and a score.
Holt was nearly unstoppable for the Wolfpack (3-5, 1-5), catching 12 passes for 168 yards. Jamie Barnette was 17-of-41 for 238 yards and four touchdowns while Tremayne Stephens carried 19 times for 100 yards for NC State, which lost for the fifth time in its last six games.
Florida State has won 16 straight ACC games, improving to 45-1 all-time in the conference. FSU has beaten the Wolfpack eight straight times and is 14-4 all-time against NC State.
