2012 MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic

Date: December 29th, 2012
Location: BB&T Center - Sunrise, FL
Tulsa vs Florida State - 2:00 p.m.
Air Force vs Florida - 4:30 p.m.

The annual MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic will again feature a top-tier doubleheader for the 19th edition of the Classic. Billy Donovan’s Florida Gators, fresh off an Elite Eight run in last season’s NCAA Tournament will face the Air Force Falcons while the defending ACC Champion Florida State Seminoles under head coach Leonard Hamilton will take on the Tulsa Golden Hurricane led by first-time head coach Danny Manning.

The 2012 MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic will be held on December 29 at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, FL. Florida State and Tulsa will play in the first game of the doubleheader, followed by Florida and Air Force.

Baptist Health Orange Bowl Prayer Breakfast in Support of FCA

The 42nd Annual Baptist Health Orange Bowl Prayer Breakfast in Support of FCA regularly features appearances and testimonies by players and coaches of the teams participating in the Orange Bowl. This year’s event will be held Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Jungle Island in Miami, beginning at 7:30 a.m.

City of Fort Lauderdale Orange Bowl Downtown Countdown

The Orange Bowl and the City of Fort Lauderdale have partnered together since 2011 to host the annual Fort Lauderdale Orange Bowl Downtown Countdown, the premier New Year’s Eve celebration in South Florida. Touted as one of the largest New Year’s Eve celebrations in the South East, the free 11-hour street festival is full of fun and excitement for both children and adults. An estimated 100,000 revelers will crowd downtown Fort Lauderdale on Monday, December 31 from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m. to wait with anticipation for the lighted ball to drop at midnight.

The spectacular celebration will feature a variety of activities for the whole family from 4 to 8 p.m. including bounce houses/inflatables, face painting and games, contests and line dancing with the DJ, as well as an early ball lighting countdown at 7 p.m.

The head coaches from participating universities in the Discover Orange Bowl highlight the annual AvMed Orange Bowl Coaches Luncheon presented by Deloitte. Interviews are conducted with the coaches and star players and the annual Hall of Fame class is honored. The Orange Bowl also honors the Edwin Pope Vanguard Media Award winner.

2013 Discover Orange Bowl

Two conference champions, No. 12 Florida State and No. 15 Northern Illinois, will meet in the 79th Discover Orange Bowl on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., it was announced today by Orange Bowl CEO Eric Poms. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.

Adding to the tradition of one of college football’s premier bowlgames, platinum recording singer-songwriter Jake Owen will headline the Discover Halftime Show, while Xenia Martinez, participant on NBC’s hit show “The Voice,” will perform the National Anthem during the Discover Orange Bowl Countdown to Kickoffat the 2013Discover Orange Bowl on January 1, 2013 at Sun Life Stadium. Owen joins a long-standing tradition of top entertainment showcased during the Orange Bowl halftime show, which has included Train, the Goo Goo Dolls, Kelly Clarkson, Jessica Simpson, Ciara, ZZ Top and the Doobie Brothers in recent years.
