The Seminole football team went through its last practice before facing its second straight Southern Conference opponent this Saturday. Thursday afternoon the team practiced almost the entire day versus UTC scout teams. The 15 period practice was run in shorts and jerseys as is customary on Thursdays.

Florida State Head Coach Bobby Bowden was disappointed with Tuesday's practice. Things looked a lot better to him on Wednesday. The Seminoles spent 21 periods practicing in shells on the practice field and the coaches seemed much happier with the way practice went compared to the day before.

PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS

• The offensive highlight in skeleton was D'Vontrey Richardson's seam route, TD pass to Jarmon Fortson. The defensive play of the drill was a pass break-up by Jamie Robinson.

• Skeleton moved into red zone and Christian Ponder completed passes to Antone Smith and Rod Owens. Richardson completed a pass to Jermaine Thomas and then floated a ball beautifully into the corner of the endzone where Louis Givens pulled in the pass.

• In 11-on-11 Ponder completed a deep pass to Owens and then Corey Surrency turned in a great play as Ponder hit him deep and Surrency did the rest with a long run after the catch down the seam. Richardson found Bert Reed but the highlight was a run. Jermaine Thomas broke off a long TD run as he shot to the outside, turned the corner and then turned on the burners as nobody got close to him. For the defense Derek Nicholson and Everett Dawkins had QB pressures. Tony Carter had a break-up and as he has done since arriving on campus, Markus White got up in the air to bat a pass down at the line.
  

• The 1:00 drill couldn't have started off better for the offense. Ponder went deep to Carr. On the next pass Ponder hit Owens down inside the five. Everette Brown had a sack on the next play and then Michael Ray Garvin broke up a lob to Surrency in the endzone. That didn't stop the big receiver though as he finished the drill with a TD catch.
  

• Practice ended on the next play as Neefy Moffett broke into the backfield and sacked Richardson before head coach Bobby Bowden blew the whistle to end the day.

The FSU football coaches turned their focus toward Chattanooga on Tuesday but according to head coach Bobby Bowden the players did not. The first day of game week preparation was sloppy according to the legendary coach as the squad practiced for 24 periods in full pads in anticipation of the second-ever meeting between FSU and Chattanooga.

PRACTICE HIGHLIGHTS

• In 1-on-1 D'Vontrey Richardson had a deep completion to Corey Surrency while Drew Weatherford connected with Bert Reed and on a bomb to Taiwan Easterling. Greg Carr had two catches, one of which went for a long TD. Cameron Wade hauled in a 25-yard pass. Defensively Terrance Parks had a pass break-up, Dionte Allen broke up a pass and Patrick Robinson had an INT.

• When 1-on-1 moved into the red zone Surrency and Reed caught TDs while Fortson hauled in two. One of Fortson's catches was a one-hander on a high pass that looked as if it was sailing over his head. Ochuko Jenije, Carter and Korey Mangum broke up passes.

• During inside drills Markus White drew rave reviews from Dekoda Watson on the sideline as he read a play perfectly and sacked Richardson.

• In skeleton Tony Carter and Michael Ray Garvin broke up passes. Christian Ponder connected twice with Easterling and also completed passes to Carr and Jermaine Thomas. Richardson had a nice drill with a deep TD to Bert Reed, another deep pass to Louis Givens and completions to Joe Surratt, Jarmon Fortson and Wade.

• During pass rush Moses McCray and Markus White recorded multiple sacks. Justin Mincey, Benjamin Lampkin, Everette Brown and Jeremy Johnson also got by their men. For the offense reigning ACC Player of the Week for the offensive line Rodney Hudson was the only player to record multiple wins. Ryan McMahon, Zebrie Sanders, Will Furlong and David Spurlock also won battles.

• There were a lot of defensive highlights the rest of practice and they started in 11-on-11. Darius McClure and Jenije both broke up passes. Vince Williams and Lampkin had QB pressures. Kevin McNeil recovered a fumble off a bad snap.  Brandon Paul had the biggest play as he broke off a long TD run. Drew Weatherford hit Bert Reed on a deep TD while Ponder found Easterling twice and Carr once.

• The defense went a perfect 4-for-4 in goal line. Paul got a couple yards on the first carry from the three. Seddrick Holloway was stuffed from the one on the second play. On the third play, from the three once again, Holloway made a great move to get free and walk into the endzone but Maurice Harris was the last defender and he stood up and drove Holloway back as the entire defense celebrated the hit. White and Rod Roberts ended the drill stuffing Surratt from the one.

Despite recording the most lopsided win in program history in the season-opener versus Western Carolina Saturday, the FSU coaches still found plenty of things to correct during the late Monday practice. The Seminoles worked for 10 periods in shorts as they focused on cleaning up mistakes from Saturday before their turn their full attention to Chattanooga beginning Tuesday.

Seminoles.com will expand coverage of video streamed press conferences this season to include each football post-game press conference. Tom Block and the Seminoles.com crew will bring each post-game home football press conference live on Seminoles All-Access. For each road game, Seminoles.com will provide the full length press conference as video on demand.

Fans can continue to watch each Monday afternoon press conference with Jimbo Fisher, Mickey Andrews and the starting quarterback. The Monday press conferences will start at 1:30 and conclude by 3:00pm EST.

For both the post-game and Monday press conferences, Seminoles.com will offer the press conferences free as they are streamed live. Once the press conference end, you will need to be an All-Access subscriber to view them.
