TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) - Florida State, which has won three consecutive games including a victory over No. 20 UMass on December 21, plays host to Charleston Southern in its final non-conference game of the regular season on Monday, December 30, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee. The Seminoles enter the game ranked No. 25 nationally in ESPN's Basketball Power Index, No. 31 in the latest Associated Press poll and No. 36 in the latest USA Today Coaches Poll. The Seminoles enter Monday's game against Charleston Southern with consecutive victories over Jacksonville State (December 8, 77-53), Charlotte (December 17, 106-62) and UMass (December 21, 60-55). Florida State's victory over Charlotte came against the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Champions and 7-2 49ers while its victory over UMass came against the Charleston Classic Champions and No. 2 RPI ranked Minutemen who entered its game against Florida State with a perfect 10-0 record. Following Monday's game against Charleston Southern, the Seminoles begin ACC play as they play host to Virginia (January 4, 5:00 p.m.), travel to play at Clemson (January 9, 7:00 p.m.) and play host to Maryland (January 12, 8:00 p.m.) in the first week of the ACC season and the first 12 days of the 2014 calendar year.

FLORIDA STATE AGAINST CHARLESTON SOUTHERN - A SERIES HISTORY
Florida State closes out its non-conference regular season schedule as it plays host to Charleston Southern at the Donald L. Tucker Center on December 30. The game will mark the third consecutive matchup that the two teams have played in the month of December. The Seminoles lead the Buccaneers, 6-0, in the all-time series which dates back to 1976. Each of the first six (and now seven games) has been played in Tallahassee. Florida State last played Charleston Southern on December 5, 2011 resulting in a 76-51 Seminole victory. Charleston Southern head coach Barclay Radebaugh has familiarity with Florida State's basketball system as he held an assistant coaching position at Miami for one season (2008-09). The Seminoles are 18-1 (.947 winning percentage) in the series against schools from the Big South Conference with their last game against a Big South team coming against Charleston South. in 2011. Florida State leads the all-time series by a 77-54 margin against teams from the state of South Carolina and is 43-26 against non-ACC schools from the Palmetto State.

SEMINOLES THOMAS NAMED ACC PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Florida State guard Aaron Thomas, who averaged 22.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists while shooting .600 from the field and the 3-point line and .917 from the free throw line in leading the Seminoles to wins over Charlotte and UMass, was named the ACC Player of the Week as announced by the league office on December 23. Thomas scored his career high of 26 points and pulled down his career high of seven rebounds (career high of three offensive rebounds) in Florida State's 106-62 win over Charlotte and totaled 18 points and four rebounds in the Seminoles' neutral court win over UMass in the Orange Bowl Classic. Thomas scored 44 points in 54 minutes played during the two wins including his career-high of 26 points in only 22 minutes played against Charlotte. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Seminoles' victory over UMass in the Orange Bowl Classic.

Senior Ian Miller was named to the All-Tournament team at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off and sophomore Aaron Thomas was named the Most Valuable Player of the Seminoles' win over UMass at the Orange Bowl Classic.

Florida State began the season with wins over Jacksonville, UCF, UT-Martin and No. 10/10 VCU; ...Defeat Charleston Southern and win its ninth non-conference game of the 2013-14 season. The Seminoles won eight non-conference games before beginning ACC play in 2012-13; ...Defeat Charleston Southern and win its fifth consecutive game against a team from the state of South Carolina. FLORIDA STATE BLOCKS 12 SHOTS IN WIN OVER UMASS
Led by sophomore Boris Bojanovsky's career-high seven blocked shots in its win over No. 20/22 UMass, Florida State blocked a season-high 12 shots in its victory over the Minutemen. The Seminoles' 12 blocked shots against UMass are tied for second in blocks by a Seminole team against a ranked team in school history. Florida State's 12 blocked shots at the Orange Bowl Classic marked the fourth time in the last two seasons that the Seminoles had blocked 10 or more shots in a game: 13 at Maryland (January 9, 2013), 10 vs. North Carolina (January 12, 2013), 12 against Wake Forest (February 26, 3013) and 12 against UMass.

FLORIDA STATE DEFENSIVELY IN THREE GAME WINNING STREAK
Florida State is holding its last three opponents to a .355 field goal shooting percentage while averaging 9.0 blocked shots and 7.3 steals during its current three-game winning streak. The Seminoles held UMass to a .333 field goal shooting percentage, earned 10 steals against Charlotte and blocked 12 shots in its win over No. 20 UMass. The Seminoles have held eight of their first 11 opponents under 40 percent shooting from the field, have earned 10 or more steals five times and blocked at least 10 shots twice in the first 11 games of the season.

FLORIDA STATE'S STATISTICAL IMPROVEMENT
Florida State plays host to Charleston Southern as one of the most improved teams in the ACC as illustrated by its improvement in the ACC statistics. The Seminoles are ranked in the top one-third of seven ACC statistical categories.
