Florida State, which has won four of its last six games since a November 12 win over Buffalo, plays host to No. 5/6 Florida in the annual meeting of in-state rivals on Wednesday, December 5 at 7:00 at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee. The Seminoles and Gators have combined for seven NCAA Tournament appearances in the last four years (Seminoles with four / Gators with three) and the Seminoles have won three of the last four games against the Gators in games played in Tallahassee. Following Wednesday's game against Florida, the Seminoles will continue their six game homestand as Maine comes to town on December 9 at 4:00 p.m. The final game of the homestand comes against Louisiana Monroe on December 17 at 7:00 p.m. Florida State and Florida will be in the same arena as both teams play in the Metro PCS Orange Bowl Classic on December 29 at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla. Florida State plays Tulsa at 2:00 followed by the Gators playing Air Force.
FLORIDA STATE VS. FLORIDA - A SERIES HISTORY
The Seminoles will play host to Florida marking the 64th meeting between the two in-state rivals, a series that dates to 1951 - the Seminoles' third longest series against a team from the state of Florida - behind its 66 meetings against Miami and its 65 meetings against Jacksonville. Florida State trails the series, 41-22, but earned three consecutive wins from 2006-2008, including a 70-66 upset of the reigning national champion Gators at Donald L. Tucker Center on Dec. 3, 2006. The 2012 matchup of the Seminoles and the Gators marks the fourth time in the last six meetings and the 10th time since 1993 that the game will be played in the month of December. A total of 15 of the Seminoles' 22 wins over the Gators have come during the month of December.

Senior All-American Michael Snaer is recognized as one of the top college basketball players in the nation. He has been named to virtually every pre-season All-American team, the preseason All-ACC Team and was the runner-up for the preseason ACC Player of the Year award as voted on by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.
SHANNON STEPPING UP AS A LEADER
Junior Terrance Shannon, who has asked the coaching staff to bring him off of the bench because he loves being the Seminoles' sixth man and bringing energy off the bench, continues to develop into one of the team's leaders. In addition to his becoming more of leader both vocally and by example for his teammates, he is the only player to lead Florida State (at least once already this season) in scoring (14 against Minnesota), rebounding (against South Alabama, Buffalo, Saint Joseph's and Minnesota), assists (Buffalo), steals (South Alabama) and blocked shots (Mercer). He enters Wednesday's game averaging a career high 10.7 points per game and a career-high 6.9 rebounds per game.

...Defeat No. 5/6 Florida and gain its first win over a ranked team this season. It will mark the Seminoles' seventh win over a ranked team in the last two seasons - the Seminoles defeated an ACC best six ranked teams (including Duke and North Carolina twice in winning the 2012 ACC Championship;

Florida State enters Wednesday's game against No. 5/6 Florida with 27 wins over nationally ranked teams during the first 10+ years of the Leonard Hamilton era in Tallahassee. Included in those wins are three wins over nationally ranked Florida teams including one when the Gators were ranked No. 4 in the country (Dec. 3, 2006, 70-66). Florida State has defeated 15 top 10 ranked teams under Hamilton with three of the Seminoles' four all-time victories over the nation's No. 1 ranked team coming during Hamilton's tenure in Tallahassee.

Florida State has proven its ability this season with its performances in wins over BYU and Saint Joseph's in winning the championship of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. In two games in the Barclay Center, the Seminoles averaged 80.5 points per game shot .561 from the field and had an assist:turnover ratio of 1.3:1.
THE SEMINOLES ARE REALLY GOOD WHEN THEY SHARE THE BASKETBALL
Florida State averages 16.5 assists per game and has been credited with at least 17 assists in three of its four wins but averages only 9.3 assists per game in its three losses. The Seminoles totaled 17 assists in their win over Buffalo, 20 in their win over BYU and 21 in their victory over Saint Joseph's in the championship game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. Florida State totaled 58 of their 143 assists (40.5 percent) in its three games against (and wins) over Buffalo, BYU and Saint Joseph's. Florida State averages 7.2 more assists and 82.2 points in its four wins as compared to its three losses.
