TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -
Florida State, which defeated Georgia Southern in the first round of the Glenn Wilkes Classic, plays UAB in the second round of the event on Friday, Nov., at 8:15 in the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Seminoles enter the game against the Blazers with a 2-0 record for the fifth time in the first six years of the Leonard Hamilton era. The Seminoles opened their season with an 81-58 victory over Nicholls State and followed that with a 92-67 win over Georgia Southern. The Seminoles defeated Georgia Southern in the first round of the Glenn Wilkes Classic and are joined by UAB, Cleveland State and Rhode Island as first round winners in the event. Following their participation in the Glenn Wilkes Classic, the Seminoles will play host to Georgia State (Nov. 20; 7:00 p.m.) before travelling to Gainesville to face Florida (Nov. 23, 7:00 p.m.).
HAMILTON RECEIVES CONTRACT EXTENSION FROM FSU PRESIDENT
Florida State University President T.K. Wetherell announced on Nov. 8 that the contract of Head Men's Basketball Coach Leonard Hamilton has been extended by two years taking his contract with the university through the 2011-2012 season. "Coach Hamilton advocates winning not only on the basketball court but also in the classroom and in the game of life," said Wetherell. "Coach Hamilton is responsible for developing an exciting basketball program that is headed in the right direction. He builds winning basketball teams and young men of character."
DOUGLAS APPROACHING 1,000 CAREER POINTS
Junior guard Toney Douglas has scored 933 career points and needs only 67 to reach the coveted 1,000 career point scoring mark. He scored 525 points (16.9 ppg in 31 games) during his only season at Auburn (2004-05) and totaled 380 points (12.7 ppg I 30 games) during his first season as a Seminole (2006-07). Douglas has scored 933 career points in 63 career games for a 14.8 points per game scoring average.
SWANN IS AS HOT AS ANY SHOOTER IN THE NATION
Senior guard Isaiah Swann scored 25 points in Florida State's victory over Georgia Southern and enters Friday's game against UAB averaging a team-leading 20.0 points per game. He is shooting the ball as well as any player in the nation as he has made 12 of 21 overall shots from the field (.571), eight of 15 shots from the bonusphere (.533) and all eight of his shots from the free throw line (.1000) in the first two games of the 2007-08 regular season.
LOOK FOR FLORIDA STATE TO...
...Defeat UAB and improve its record to 3-0. It would mark the fourth time under sixth-year Head Coach Leonard that the Seminoles will have won at least its first three games of a single-season. The best start under Hamilton is 10-0 to begin the 2003-04 season;
...Defeat UAB and earn a victory over a Conference-USA team for the second consecutive season. Florida State defeated SMU, 59-52, in the third round of the Colonial Classic in Tallahassee on Nov. 14, 2006.

SEMINOLES IN DAYTONA BEACH
Florida State travels nearly four hours southeast of Tallahassee to Daytona Beach to play in the inaugural Glenn Wilkes Classic this weekend. The Seminoles' participation in the event at the Ocean Center marks the first time in school history the Seminoles will play in Daytona Beach.
SEMINOLES NOT MISSING A BEAT FROM THE FREE THROW LINE
Florida State, which ranked first in the ACC and ninth in the nation in free throw shooting percentage with a team-record .758 mark during the 2006-07 season, enters Friday's game against UAB shooting .867 from the free throw through the first two games of the season. The Seminoles shot above 90 percent from the line against Georgia Southern (32 of 35, .941 percent) to mark the third time in the last 37 games that they had shot 90 percent or better from the line in a single game. A pair of Seminole seniors - Isaiah Swann (eight of eight, 1.000 percent) and Jason Rich (six of six) -- is perfect from the free throw line through the first two games of the season.

Florida State has made more than half of its shots from the field in its first two games of the season including a .526 percentage (30 of 57) from the field in its season opening victory over Nicholls State. The Seminoles ranked fourth in the ACC with a .481 field goal shooting percentage during the 2006-07 season. The seven players who have earned starting assignments for the Seminoles in the first two games of the season are shooting .515 from the field (51 of 99) while the six players who have come off the bench are shooting a combined .533 from the field (eight of 15).
SEMINOLES DEFENDING THE GOAL WELL
Florida State's pressure defense has held its first two opponents below a 40 percent shooting from the field and to an average of 62.5 points per game. The Seminoles limited Nicholls State to a .444 mark in their 81-58 victory over the Colonels and limited Georgia Southern to .360 shooting from the field in their 92-67 victory over the Eagles. Florida State is defending the 3-point shot extremely well as its has allowed its opponents to make only eight of 40 shots (.200 percent) from the bonusphere.

FLORIDA STATE VS. UAB - THE LAST MEETING
Murray Brown scored 30 points and Mickey Dillard 29 as Florida State defeated UAB, 89-87, on Feb. 20, 1980 in Tully Gymnasium on the Florida State campus the last time the Seminoles and Blazers met in the sport of basketball. Florida State held on for the victory as UAB outscored the home team, 50-41, in nearly pulling off the victory. Murray finished the game with a double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds. The Seminoles' Elvis Rolle also totaled a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. The Seminoles finished with a 22-9 overall record, a fourth place finish in the old Metro Conference and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Seminoles defeated Toledo in the first round of the tournament before falling to Kentucky - and assistant Coach Leonard Hamilton in the second round of the tournament.
