GREENSBORO, N.C. - Florida State senior guard Tim Pickett was named to the preseason All-ACC First Team in a vote by the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association at the annual Operation Basketball event. An All-ACC second-team selection as a junior, Pickett was included on the five man team of the top players in the nation's top conference entering the 2003-04 season.

Pickett was named to the preseason All-ACC team along with Raymond Felton of North Carolina, Julius Hodge of N.C. State, J.J. Redick of Duke and Vytas Danelius of Wake. Felton was selected as the preseason conference player of the year while Duke's Luol Deng was voted the preseason rookie of the year.

Pickett is only the third player in Seminole men's basketball history to earn preseason All-ACC honors. Sam Cassell (prior to the 1992-93 season) and Bob Sura (prior to the 1994-95 season) were the first two Seminoles to earn preseason All-ACC honors. Both Cassell and Sura earned All-ACC second team honors following those respective seasons.

As a junior, Pickett was named to the ACC second team and the conference's all-defensive team in a vote of the leagues nine coaches and also by the media covering the conference. He finished tied for fourth in the nation with 82 steals and tied for fourth in the nation with a 2.83 steals per game average. Pickett led the ACC in steals with 82 as a junior in 2003 - a total that ranks as the second highest single-season total in school history

Pickett led Florida State in virtually every statistical category including points per game (17.1), rebounds per game (5.7) and steals per game (2.8) in becoming the first Seminole since James Collins during the 1996-97 season to earn All-ACC second-team or higher honors. He enters his senior season looking to become only the second player in school history to earn All-ACC first-team honors -- Bob Sura, during the 1994-95 season, is the only Seminole men's basketball player to earn All-ACC first team honors since the Seminoles joined the ACC for the 1991-92 season.
