TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) - Florida State's game at Minnesota in the 15th Annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge will be played on December 3, 2013 at 9:30 p.m. ET and will be televised nationally on ESPNU as ESPN finalized the networks and time assignments for the much anticipated 12-game event between the two conferences. The Seminoles and the Gophers will meet for the second consecutive season and fifth time in the history of the challenge.

All 12 Big Ten teams and 12 of the 15 ACC teams will participate in the 2013 ACC/Big 10 Challenge, including the three newest ACC members Notre Dame, Pittsburgh and Syracuse. The 2013 Challenge schedule is highlighted by eight teams in an ESPN.com early preseason top 25 including six of the top 12 teams: No. 3 Michigan State, No. 6 Duke, No. 8 Ohio State, No. 9 Syracuse, No. 10 Michigan, No. 12 North Carolina, No. 20 Indiana and No. 25 Iowa. Three of the games will pit ranked teams against each other: No. 10 Michigan at No. 6 Duke, No. 12 North Carolina at No. 3 Michigan State and No. 20 Indiana at No. 9 Syracuse.

The ACC and Big Ten split last year's Challenge with six wins each. In the event of a tie, the Commissioner's Cup remains with the conference that won the previous year, which was the Big Ten in 2011. The ACC holds a 10-3-1 Challenge record, winning the first 10 events (1999-2008) while the Big Ten won the next three (2009-2011).

The Seminoles return four starters to their 2013-14 team including senior All-American candidate Okaro White (12.4 ppg and a team-leading 5.9 rpg), point guard Devon Bookert (6.5 ppg and 2.4 apg) and guard Aaron Thomas (6.0 ppg and 2.4 rpg) to their starting line-up. Florida State finished the 2012-13 season with an 18-16 record and played in the NIT marking its school record eighth consecutive postseason tournament appearance. Senior Ian Miller, who averaged 5.3 points per game as a junior, will also return healthy after being hampered by a foot injury during his junior season.

The Seminoles and the Gophers are tied with four wins each in the eight-game series that dates back to the 1972 season. Florida State last matched up against Minnesota in the 2012 ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Prior to that the Seminoles hadn't played Minnesota since a 75-61 victory at home on November 27, 2007, which marked the first year for head coach Tubby Smith at Minnesota (now the head coach at Texas Tech). The last time Florida State played multiple games against teams from the Big 10 (they could also play national runner-up Michigan in the Puerto Rico Shootout) in the same season was the 2008-09 season as it lost to Northwestern, 73-59, for the ACC/Big 10 Challenge on December 3, 2008 in Evanston, Ill., and again that season in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to Wisconsin, 61-59, in Boise, Idaho on March 20, 2009. Minnesota is coach by Richard Pitino - the son of current Louisville head coach Rick Pitino. The Seminoles have played against a Pitino- coached team three times - Rick (as the head coach at Kentucky) on March 27, 1993 and Richard (as an assistant at Florida) during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.

Florida State will play host to North Carolina, Notre Dame and Syracuse as part of their exciting home schedule and season ticket package. Season tickets are on sale now for the 2013-14 season. The Tucker Center will be the place to be this year as fans will be able to see the best basketball conference in the nation.
