Seminoles' Galloway Travels To Germany As Part Of College All-Star Team

July 25, 2005

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Todd Galloway, a two-year starter at the point guard position for the Florida State University men's basketball team, will play as a member of the Score International Basketball Outreach team as it participates in the Nation's Cup Tournament in Muster, Germany. The three-day event runs July 29-31 with the team competing against teams from Turkey, Germany and Russia and participating in events ranging from clinics and hospital visits at various locations in Germany.

The team will face Turkey (July 29), Germany (July 30) and Russia (July 31). In addition to playing three games against international all-stars, Galloway and the team will play games against local U.S. Army teams and sightsee in the beautiful city of Cologne. The players will also learn a great deal about the people and culture of Germany as the trip has them in the country from July 27 through Aug. 6.

The team includes Galloway, Renaldo Balkman and Stephen McDowell of South Carolina, Jara Doyne of Ole Miss, Piotr Stelmach of Mississippi State; Julian Terrell and Daniel Cage of Vanderbilt, Sam Perry and Steve Allen of Clemson and George Lemonakis of Tennessee Temple University. The team is coached by Tommy Kyle, the Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach at Decatur Christian High School.

Michael Joiner, a Florida State alumnus and four-year basketball starter, is one of three assistant coaches working and traveling with the team. He played on the Score International team in 2004 as he averaged a double-double of 10.8 points and 10.0 rebounds to help the All-Star team to a 4-0 record during an eight-day tour of the Dominican Republic.

The team is making the trip in conjunction with the Summer 2005 Basketball Outreach program sponsored by Phil Waldrep Ministries and SCORE International.
