TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -
Florida State, which has won three consecutive home games at Miami, plays host to the Hurricanes on Saturday February 6, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee. The Seminoles have won six of the last seven overall games against their in-state rivals and are 6-4 against the Hurricanes since the joined the ACC for the beginning of the 2004-05 season. The Seminoles' success against they Hurricanes has come in the form of a five-game winning streak from the second game of the 2005-06 season and two regular season sweeps of the Hurricanes during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons. Florida State most recently won the second game (in Tallahassee) of the season series with an 80-67 victory on Feb. 18, 2009. Overall, the Seminoles are 23-6 (.793 winning percentage) in games played in Tallahassee against the Hurricanes. Following Saturday's game against Miami, the Seminoles travel to play at Clemson on Feb. 10 at 7:00 in Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson, S.C. Each of Florida State's final eight games of the regular season (including Saturday's game against Miami) will be aired on national television.
ACC DEFENSIVE TEAM CANDIDATES ALABI AND SINGLETON SHINE
ACC All-Defensive team candidates Solomon Alabi and Chris Singleton are two of the best defenders in the nation and the ACC and continue to display their defensive talents in each Seminole game. Alabi recorded his 55th blocked shot of the season while Singleton recorded his 49th steal and his 37th blocked shot against Maryland on Thursday night. Alabi and Singleton have combined for 60 steals and 92 blocked shots in the first 22 games of the season. Alabi is ranked second in blocked shots for the entire season with 55 in 21 games and second in blocked shots in ACC play with 16 in eight games. Singleton leads the ACC in total steals in all games (49) and ACC games only (17) while ranking fourth in total blocked shots for the entire season (49) and first in total blocked shots in ACC games only (18).

SEMINOLES CONTINUE TO RANK AS THE NATION'S TOP DEFENSIVE TEAM
Florida State enters Saturday's game against Miami ranked first in the ACC in field goal percentage defense (.365) and blocked shots (6.8 bpg) and second in the league statistics in scoring defense (61.0 ppg) and third in steals (8.3 spg). The Seminoles are now ranked second (behind Kansas) nationally in field goal percentage defense after ranking first nationally in each of the last four weeks.
LOOK FOR FLORIDA STATE TO...
...Defeat Miami and win for the seventh time in the last eight games against Miami. The Seminoles have defeated the Hurricanes in each of the last seven meetings between the two teams save a 75-69 victory by the Hurricanes on Jan. 21, 2009 in Coral Gables;
...Defeat Miami and earn its fifth ACC victory of the season. The Seminoles earned their fifth ACC win of the season at Clemson on Feb. 7 last season on their way to a 10-6 record and a fourth place finish in the ACC standings;

SEMINOLES FROM THE FREE THROW LINE
Led by All-ACC candidate Solomon Alabi's perfect four of four performance from the free throw line, the Seminoles were a perfect 11 of 11 (1.000 percent) from the free throw line against Miami. It marked Florida State's best performance of the season from the free throw line and the ninth time this season the Seminoles had shot better than 70 percent from the free throw line.
FLORIDA STATE'S REBOUNDING IN THE ACC BY THE NUMBERS...
...Florida State has outrebounded its last five ACC opponents by a +8.2 margin. The Seminoles outrebounded Duke by 10 (40-30) and Boston College by 17 (39-22);
...Florida State has now outrebounded six of its first eight ACC opponents including Georgia Tech twice. The Seminoles have defeated the nationally ranked Yellow Jackets twice by an average of 2.5 rebounds per game;
...Sophomore Chris Singleton is the third leading rebounder in ACC games only with an 8.4 rebounds per game mark in eight conference games;

SEMINOLES APPROACH 200 STEALS FOR NINTH CONSECUTIVE SEASON
Led by junior Derwin Kitchen's near career-high of four steals against Maryland on Thursday night, the Seminoles finished with five steals - the 20th time in 22 games they have earned five or more steals in a single game. Florida State is ranked second in the ACC with 182 steals and an 8.3 steals per game average. The Seminoles have earned at least 20 steals in eight consecutive seasons.
FLORIDA STATE LEADS THE ACC IN BLOCKED SHOTS
Florida State enters Saturday's game against Miami as the ACC leader in blocked shots with 149 and a 6.8 blocked shots per game average. The Seminoles have blocked at least four shots in 20 of 22 games and sent back a season-high of 13 shots in their win at Mercer. Florida State blocked 10 shots against NC State (Jan. 12) and sent back nine in their win over Virginia Tech (Jan. 16).
FLORIDA STATE'S ALABI AND SINGLETON IN ACC TOP FIVE FOR BLOCKED SHOTS
Florida State is ranked second in the ACC in blocked shots with 182 and an 8.3 average and is the only team in the ACC with two players (Solomon Alabi and Chris Singleton) ranked in the ACC's top five for individual blocked shots. Alabi is ranked second in total blocks (55) and blocked shots per game (2.5) while Singleton is ranked tied for fourth in total blocked shots (37) and fifth in blocks per game (1.7). Alabi and Singleton have combined for more blocked shots as a tandem than Virginia (62) and Boston College (89) have been credited for as entire teams so far this season.

FLORIDA STATE VS. MIAMI - THE LAST GAME
All-American Toney Douglas scored 24 points and Uche Echefu added 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead Florida State to an 80-67 victory over Miami on Feb. 18, 2009 at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee. The Seminoles made 31 of 35 free throws and put the clamps on Miami scoring machine Jack McClinton for most of the game, limiting him to 13 points. McClinton, who had scored 101 points in his pervious three games, had just five at halftime and went nearly 25 1/2 minutes without scoring through the middle of the game. James Dews led Miami with a season-high 19 points. Douglas, who spent much of his time in the first half helping defend McClinton, scored 17 of his points in the second half.
