TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) - Florida State, which has won six of its last seven games since December 8, travels to Miami in its fourth of 18 consecutive ACC games on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at 9:00 p.m. The Seminoles won two games last week with a dominant defensive performance against Clemson in which they allowed a school record low for an ACC game 41 points and a dominant offensive performance against Maryland in which they made a school record high for an ACC game 16 3-point shots. The Seminoles defeated the Tigers, 56-41 and topped Maryland, 85-61 to up their ACC record to 2-1. Florida State's game at Miami marks the first of two games during the regular season against the Hurricanes; the Seminoles will play host to Miami in Tallahassee on February 10. Following Wednesday's game against Miami, the Seminoles will travel to play at Virginia on Saturday at 12 Noon before playing host to Notre Dame on Tuesday, January 21 at 8:00 p.m. Florida State's game against Notre Dame marks the first appearance in Tallahassee for Notre Dame and the Seminoles' first game against the Fighting Irish since they became members of the ACC in 2013.

FLORIDA STATE'S DEFENSE IN TWO WINS LAST WEEK
Florida State's defense limited Clemson and Maryland to 51.0 points per game, a .317 field goal shooting percentage and a .216 3-point field goal shooting percentage in two ACC wins last week. The Seminoles' defense limited both Clemson and Maryland below 34 percent shooting from the field and under 27 percent from the 3-point line. Florida State's defense held both teams to a total of 102 points - an average of 51 points per game. The Seminoles allowed the Tigers to score 41 points - the fewest points allowed in Florida State history in an ACC game and held the Tigers to 16 first half points - also the fewest points allowed in a half of an ACC game since joining the league for the 1991-92 season. The Seminoles +15 margin of victory ranks tied for sixth in school history for margin of victory in an ACC game on the road. Florida State's victory over Maryland saw the Seminoles' defense limit the Terps to a .333 field goal shooting percentage and a .167 3-point field goal shooting percentage. Maryland made a season low 17 field goals (it entered the game averaging more than 26 made field goals per game) and made less than half of their season average of 3-point field goals made per game. The Terps average more than seven made shots from long range and were held to three by the Seminoles' defense.

SEMINOLES AMONG NATION'S TOP DEFENSIVE TEAMS
Florida State, which limited Clemson to 30 percent shooting from the field, blocked five shots and earned 10 steals, is ranked seventh nationally in field goal percentage defense (.363) and tied for eighth nationally in blocked shots per game (6.7 bpg). The Seminoles and Green Bay are the only two teams in the nation ranked in the top 10 nationally in the field goal percentage and blocked shots categories.

FLORIDA STATE'S DEFENSIVE RANKINGS UNDER Leonard Hamilton
Florida State, the third winningest team in the ACC in the last nine seasons and the 2012 ACC Champions, have built a tradition of suffocating defense under head coach Leonard Hamilton. In four consecutive seasons in which the Seminoles played in the NCAA Tournament (2009-12), the Seminoles did not rank lower than ninth nationally in field goal percentage defense, not lower than 11th nationally in blocked shots and not lower than 67th in steals.

FLORIDA STATE ESTABLISHES SCHOOL RECORD FOR 3-POINT SHOTS MADE IN AN ACC GAME
Led by Ian Miller's career-best six 3-point field goals made, the Seminoles made a school record for ACC games 16 3-point shots in its 85-61 win over Maryland on Sunday. The Seminoles were 10 of 15 (.667 percent) from long range in the first half and six of nine in the second half (.667 percent). Miller made a career-high six 3-point shots - he was one of six different players who made at least one 3-point shot during the game. The Seminoles' 16 3-point shots made against Maryland ranks as the third highest single game total in school history and are the most made in a game by an ACC team this season.

NOTING FLORIDA STATE'S THREE POINTS SHOTS MADE AGAINST MARYLAND
Florida State entered its game against Maryland ranked 14th in the ACC with 58 3-point field goals made and a 4.2 3-point field goals made per game average. Then it made a near-school record 16 3-point field goals in its 85-61 win over the Terps. The Seminoles enter Wednesday's game against Miami ranked 13th in the ACC with 74 3-point field goals made and a 4.9 3-point field goals made per game average.

SEMINOLES FINISH MARYLAND GAME WITH POSITIVE ASSIST:TURNOVER RATIO
Florida State totaled 17 assists in its win over Maryland and earned a positive assist:turnover ratio of 1.2:1 in its win over the Terps. The Seminoles' 17 assists ranks as their second highest total of the season - they had 22 in their win over Jacksonville State. Their positive assist to turnover ratio was their third of the season with more assists that turnovers coming against both Michigan (November 22) and Jacksonville State (December 8).

FLORIDA STATE'S BENCH
Florida State's bench outscored Maryland's entire team, 24-22, in the first half of the Seminoles' 85-61 win over the Terps on Sunday in Tallahassee. The Seminoles' bench totaled 44 points in the game with four of the six players who came in as reserves scoring at least three points.

BUILDING UP ITS BLOCKED SHOTS TOTAL
Florida State enters Wednesday's game at Miami as the ACC leaders in blocked shots (6.7 bpg) and have earned at least five blocked shots in 12 of its first 15 games of the season. The Seminoles are the only team in the ACC with 100 blocked shots this season.
