Terrell Baker leads men's basketball team past the Wolfpack
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) - Terrell Baker scored 20 points and Florida State rebounded from its worst loss in 40 years with a 64-52 victory over North Carolina State on Wednesday night.
The Seminoles (15-6, 4-5 Atlantic Coast Conference) trailed 33-28 at halftime, but allowed the youthful Wolfpack only 19 points in the second half.
Randell Jackson's three quick baskets ignited a 13-5 run to start the second half and put Florida State into the lead.
Jackson added 13 points and LaMarr Greer had 11 for Florida State, which was beaten 103-55 Saturday at No. 2 North Carolina. Greer's layup with 11:42 left broke a 41-41 tie and gave the Seminoles the lead for good.
North Carolina State, which started two freshmen and a sophomore, was 8-of-12 from 3-point range in the first half, taking the lead at 11-8 on a 3-pointer by freshman Archie Miller, who led the Wolfpack with 18 points.
Ishua Benjamin added 12 points and freshman Kenny Inge had 10 for the Wolfpack (11-8, 2-6), who led by as many as six points on four different occasions in the half.
North Carolina State was only 3-of-11 from long distance in the second half and shot just 37.8 percent while Florida State hit 52.2 percent to accompany a 38-18 rebound advantage. Florida State also won its earlier meeting at North Carolina State, 68-55.
