Florida State 77, Virginia Tech 70
Jan. 9, 2005
Florida State head coach Leonard Hamilton:
"When you look at the stat line, you see we shot 58 percent from the floor, 57 percent from the three, and 78 percent from the three throw line. Therefore, you'd like to think we are doing pretty well. We got to the foul line and when you turn the ball over obviously 28 times, it says a lot about the lack of execution. The good things to look at were Virginia Tech had a great game plan with being patient when they needed to and they have great turnover statistics."
Virginia Tech head coach Seth Greenberg:
"Other than the fourth quarter turnovers and not rebounding, I thought we were in pretty good position to win the game. ... They had some very big shots in the first half. We've spent the last five days really working, closing out and getting the shooters; we didn't do a good enough job on that obviously early. But, the second half we did a better job on that. We were in position to win the game, and I kind of feel like we beat ourselves a little bit. And obviously their [FSU] defense had something to do with it. Towards the end, we just lost our toughness."
