Seminoles' victory...his points were especially important as the Eagles had drawn to within seven at 42-35...Vaughn's two baskets and four total points began an 11-4 run by the Seminoles which took Miami...helped lead the Seminoles to victories over Miami on the road in Coral Gables and at home in Tallahassee...his three blocked shots in the two games against the Hurricanes led the Seminoles against Miami in the regular season series sweep...scored zero points but was active defensively with four rebounds and three blocked shots as the Seminoles won in the road in Coral Gables (Feb. 6)...led Florida State in blocked shots and was among the team leaders in rebounds in the win...two blocked shots within a four second span and three blocked shots in a 30 second span of the first half as the early part of the game was dominated by defense...he first block came on a lay-up attempt by Eddie Rios and the second on a lay-up attempt by Raymond Hicks...his blocked shots allowed Florida State to keep a 4-2 lead with just under six minutes played in the game...his third blocked shot on a jumper by Jimmy Graham disturbed the Hurricanes even more as they totaled five points in AT OAK HILL ACADEMY: Graduated from Oak Hill Academy in 2007...averaged 8.2 points and 10.2 rebounds to go along with 3.3 blocked shots per game in leading the Warriors to the No. 1 overall national ranking and the mythical national championship in the USA Today's Super 25 boy's high school basketball rankings for the 2007 season...was the sixth time in school history OHA finished as the nation's No. 1 ranked team...helped lead Oak Hill to a 40-1 overall record to tie the single-season school record for wins at the nationally renowned school...during the season, he helped the Warriors defeat nine different state champion teams...shot 59 percent from the floor in the Warriors up-tempo offense during his senior season...scored 22 points and pulled down a school record 31 rebounds against Bonner Academy from Raleigh, N.C., on Feb. 18, 2007.
AT SOUTH LAKES: Attended South Lakes High School for two seasons (2005 and 2006)...averaged a double-double of 20.1 points and 12.5 rebounds while making 32 3-point shots and shooting 36.4 percent from the 3-point line as a junior...was an All-Met Second-Team selection by the Washington Post as a junior...helped lead South Lakes to a 17-9 record in 2006...scored in double figures in all but one game and totaled at least 20 points 14 times and at least 30 points three times as a junior...his season-high of 31 points came against both Thomas Jefferson and Herndon...while his season-high of 16 rebounds came against McLean...totaled 17 double-doubles as a junior with at least 12 rebounds coming 12 timers.
AT MONTROSE CHRISTIAN: Attended Montrose Christian and played for Head Coach Stu Vetter as a freshman during the 2003-04 season...averaged 20 points and 11 rebounds...played with former Seminole junior Uche Echefu that season.
PERSONAL: Born Dec. 16, 1988...Julian is the son of Eric and Marcia Vaughn...his father, Eric, played one season at Cornell before leaving the basketball team to concentrate on his academics...earned better than a 3.7 grade point average in highs school...made a name for himself as a member of the highly successful D.C. Assault team on the AAU circuit...selected Florida State over Kentucky, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh prior to his freshman season...
