AS A SOPHOMORE (2011): Averaged 0.6 points (13th on the team) and 0.4 rebounds (14th) as he played in five games during the first season of his Seminole career...helped the Seminoles advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since the 1993 season and for the fourth time in school history...played in three non conference wins and in two ACC victories over Wake Forest...playing time came for the first time in his Seminole career in Florida State's victory over UNC Greensboro (Nov. 18)...earned one minute of playing time in the Seminoles' 97-73 win over the Spartans at the Greensboro Coliseum - the storied home of numerous ACC Tournaments...earned playing time in an ACC game for the first time in his career against Wake Forest as he appeared in both of the Seminoles' games against the Deacons...scored points in two different games - in the Seminoles' victory of Florida International (Nov. 18) and in the Seminoles' ACC victory over Wake Forest in Tallahassee...earned career statistics for field goals made (one), field goals attempted (three) and offensive rebounds (one) while tying his career high of 3-point field goals attempted (one) and total rebounds (one) against the Panthers...the Seminoles' 89-66 victory over the Panthers came in his home town of Miami, Fla., and came in front of members of his family and circle of friends...the first basket of his career came as the Seminoles' final basket of the game in their win over the Panthers...his basket made the score 89-66...the tip-in basket also allowed Portuondo to earn the first offensive rebound of his career on a missed field goal attempt by teammate A.J. AT CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS: Graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in Miami in 2008...earned two varsity letters and was the team captain during his senior season...played in the Dade vs. Broward County and the Dade County private school all-star game following his senior season...averaged 10.0 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game as a starter and a senior captain...earned the Sportsmanship Award from the coaching staff following his junior and senior seasons...named as the teams' Most Improved Player following his junior season...was also a letterwinner as a member of the track and field team and participated in the events of the 100 and 200 meter sprints and the long jump.
