They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but if that's true, than an expression can have a thousand meanings.
"You can't read him because he looks the same every time."
And because of that, Coach Leonard Hamilton's stare has become infamous. Even after a win, he won't show any emotion. It's a look the entire nation knows about, except for Leonard himself.
"Stare?" Leonard Hamilton questioned, "I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about."
But the player's certainly do. They can remember the first time they saw the stare.
"His stare puts some fear in your eyes," said Okaro White. "I say it's a pretty scary stare for people that have never seen it in person."
It's even been coined a certain term...
"I call it the death stare." said Ian Miller
And the many faces of Coach hamilton, or lack their of have often been imitated, but never duplicated.
"I can't do it," said Michael Snaer. "I don't know if I can do the Coach Hamilton face."
But Coach Hamilton is steadfast on the idea that it's not a stare but rather just pure focus.
"I think it's considered a high level of concentration and focus," said Hamilton. "I'm not really sure that I don't look the same way when I am watching film, when I'm shooting ball or playing some ping pong."
Whatever activity it may be, Coach Hamilton maintains his composure and knows it's just something that will be talked about. Just hopefully soon, we'll see another smile.
