TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State's Brandon Leibrandt and Mike Compton were honored as Louisville Slugger Preseason All-Americans for the upcoming 2013 baseball season as announced by Collegiate Baseball on Friday, December 21.

Both Seminole hurlers, who earned a spot on the 2013 preseason third team, pitched in the weekend rotation the entire 2012 season combining for 20 of Florida State's 50 wins in 37 starts.

Leibrandt got the nod as the Seminoles' opening day starter and pitched in the Friday night spot all season long in 2012. He made Florida State history in becoming the first freshman to start an opening day game in the program's 65-year history.

The freshman southpaw finished the season with an 8-3 record and a 2.82 ERA. His best performance of the season came against Samford in the Tallahassee Regional where he worked 8.0 shutout innings and recorded a career-high 10 strikeouts. Leibrandt was honored for his performance as he was named to the Tallahassee Regional All-Tournament team.

The Alpharetta, Ga., native concluded his freshman campaign leading the team in innings pitched (99.0) and strikeouts (83), while holding opponents to a .243 batting average in 19 starts. He finished the season ranked in the top 10 in the ACC in wins (t-4th), innings pitched (t-4th), strikeouts (t-9th) and ERA (10th). Leibrandt worked 5.0 or more innings in 14 starts in 2012 and did not allow a run five times. Florida State was 14-5 in games that Leibrandt started.

Compton adds a second preseason award to his resume in 2013 as he was also named a third team Preseason All-American by the NCBWA.

Mike Compton was the only pitcher to reach double-digit wins in the ACC in 2012.

The Branson, Mo., native posted a 12-2 record with a 2.87 ERA in 18 starts in his first season at Florida State in 2012. The right hander made an immediate impact on FSU's starting rotation a season ago earning a spot in the weekend rotation in the series opener against Hofstra. He would maintain his spot in the rotation throughout the Seminoles' run to the College World Series.

Compton finished the season tied for the second most wins nationally while leading all freshmen in that category. He was the first 10-game winner in the ACC in 2012 and closed out the year as the only player in the league to reach double-digit victories. Compton went on to finish 13th in the ACC in ERA en route to earning second team all-conference honors.

Compton made three starts in the NCAA Tournament and picked up wins against Samford and Stony Brook. In both outings, the Seminole pitcher worked 6.0 innings and allowed just two runs. Compton was the pitcher of record in FSU's 5-2 victory over Samford to clinch the Tallahassee Regional. He then helped Florida State stave off elimination in Omaha as he led the Seminoles to a 12-2 victory over Stony Brook in the College World Series.

He finished his freshman campaign with 64 strikeouts in 91.0 innings of work while holding opponents to a .260 batting average. Compton allowed two earned runs or less in 16 of his 18 starts, while yielding no runs three times.

Leibrandt, Compton and the rest of the Seminoles will look to return to Omaha in 2013 when the season begins Friday, February 15 at 4:00 p.m. as Florida State hosts the University of Rhode Island for a three-game series on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Field.
