TUCSON, Ariz. - With opening day of the 2010 baseball season on the horizon, Florida State will start the year ranked No. 7 according to "Collegiate Baseball" newspaper's Fabulous 40 NCAA Division I pre-season baseball poll.

FSU returns 17 letterwinners from last year's squad that exceeded expectations serving as host to both the Regional and Super Regional rounds of the NCAA Tournament.

Of this year's returning student-athletes, the Seminoles welcome back seven position starters and eight pitchers including all three arms from last year's weekend rotation.

Florida State will be led by juniors Tyler Holt and Mike McGee and sophomore Sean Gilmartin as all three were named pre-season All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

In 2009, Florida State finished with an overall record of 45-18 and a 19-9 mark in league play en route to their third consecutive ACC Atlantic Division Title.

The Seminoles are one of six ACC schools ranked in the top 16 including one of three ranked in the top 10.

The 2010 baseball season begins Friday, February 19 at 4:00 p.m. with a three-game series on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium against Georgia State.
