2013 NCBWA Freshmen All-American Team

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Florida State outfielder DJ Stewart added to his postseason hardware on Monday afternoon earning first team Freshmen All-America honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Stewart closed out his first year with the Garnet & Gold as the team leader in average (.364), hits (82), doubles (25) and slugging percentage (.560). He currently ranks in the top 10 in the ACC in six offensive categories including doubles (3rd), batting average (4th), on-base percentage (6th), RBI (7th), slugging percentage (9th) and total bases (t-9th).

Following the completion of the regular season, the Yulee, Fla., native earned one of five spots as an outfielder on the All-ACC second team. Just a week later, Stewart's hot bat earned him a place on the ACC All-Tournament team after hitting .667 with a double, triple and three runs scored. On June 5, Stewart was recognized as a Freshmen All-American by Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball.

Stewart ended the season as one of the hottest hitters in the nation hitting .564 (22-for-39) with four doubles, one triple, one home run, eight RBI and 11 runs scored. He recorded multiple hits in nine of those games including three three-hit games. During that span, Stewart reached base in 35 of his 49 plate appearances. The freshman outfielder also led the team with 26 multi-hit games and was the only Seminole to record five or more RBI in a game this year.
