TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Fifth-ranked Florida State (37-12, 16-8 ACC) wraps up its regular season home schedule this weekend as the Seminoles welcome NC State (31-18, 11-13 ACC) for a three-game series beginning Friday, May 14 on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium.
FSU leads the all-time series 50-22 with the Seminoles posting a 22-6 mark against the Wolfpack on their home turf. The Garnet and Gold have won five in a row in the series and have never lost a home series against NC State - a streak of nine straight conference series victories in Tallahassee.
Last year, FSU used a combination of some late inning heroics and some clutch two-out hitting to sweep the three-game series in Raleigh for the first time since 1999. In the opening game of the series a year ago, the Seminoles broke a 3-3 tie scoring six runs over the last three innings. In the game two, Stuart Tapley hit a grand slam in the eighth to account for all of FSU's runs in a 4-2 victory. In the series finale, FSU scored 10 of its 13 runs on two outs in claiming a 13-2 victory. The Seminoles hit .292 as a team last year, while the staff ERA was at 1.67. FSU was 11-for-13 in stolen bases a season ago. Florida State has posted an 8-1 record against teams in the Atlantic Division and currently boast a two-game lead over Clemson.
