Game Notes vs NC State

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - No. 7 Florida State (40-9, 16-8) continues its five-game road swing with a three-game series in Raleigh against No. 9 NC State (38-11, 15-8). The weekend series will be a pivotal one as both teams are vying for the top spot in the ACC Atlantic Division. The Seminoles currently have a half a game lead on the Wolfpack for the division lead as both teams have six conference games remaining.

The Seminoles lead the all-time series 57-26 with FSU holding an 18-10 edge in games played in Raleigh at Doak Field. FSU has won seven consecutive series over NC State including three straight series victories in Raleigh. The last series victory for the Wolfpack came in 2005 when NC State took 2-of-3 from the Seminoles inside Doak Field.

FSU has won two straight over NC State and 14 of its last 20 in the series. Ten of those games have been decided by four runs or less with the Noles leading 8-2 during that stretch.

Last year, these two schools met in the final weekend of the regular season with FSU needing just one win to wrap-up the No. 1 overall see in the ACC Tournament. FSU picked up two wins after dropping game one despite drawing a career-high nine walks from NC State starter Carlos Rodon in the opener. The pitching trio of Brandon Leibrandt, Gage Smith and Robert Benincasa led FSU to a 3-2 victory in game two, while the Noles used 11 walks to post a 6-2 victory in game three to clinch the season series.

Florida State enters the weekend winners of nine in a row as the Seminoles opened their current road swing with a pair of victories at Stetson. NC State is riding a streak of its own having won its last five games. The Wolfpack are 24-6 at home this year.

FSU's win on Wednesday against the Hatters was victory No. 40. The Seminoles have now eclipsed the 40-win plateau for the 36th year in a row.

Saturday's first pitch is schedule for 12 noon and will air live on FS Florida, FS South and ESPN3 (subject to blackout). Sunday's game is set for 3 pm and will air on ESPN3, while Monday's series finale will air live on ESPNU at 7 pm.

Florida State will once again send out the same starting rotation for the weekend as RHP Luke Weaver will start Saturday followed by LHP Brandon Leibrandt (Sunday) and RHP Scott Sitz (Monday).
