Game Notes vs. Stetson

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Coming off a three-game sweep of UCF this past weekend, No. 7 Florida State (38-9) wraps-up its regular season non-conference schedule with a pair of mid-week games in DeLand against the Stetson Hatters (23-24) beginning Tuesday, May 7 at 6:30 p.m. First pitch for game two on Wednesday is set for 4:00 p.m.

The Seminoles defeated the Hatters in their first two games back in mid-March in Tallahassee as FSU outscored Stetson 19-4.

In game one, FSU scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth taking advantage of two crucial Stetson errors to post a 5-3 victory. Jameis Winston picked up his first career victory with 2.0 shutout innings, while Luke Weaver went 6.2 innings allowing two runs on seven hits. In game two, the Noles out hit the Hatters 12-4 en route to a 14-1 victory as Josh Delph finished with two hits and a career-high four RBI. Billy Strode, making his second career start, earned his first career victory working a career-high 6.0 innings giving up just one unearned run on three hits.

FSU leads the all-time series 50-22 and is 18-9 when visiting DeLand. The Seminoles have won seven of their last eight games on Melching Field inside Conrad Park. Since 2005, nine of the 19 games in the series have been decided by four runs or less with the `Noles owning a record of 7-2 during that span.

With one win this week, FSU will secure its third series win over the Hatters in the last four years (2010: 2-0; 2011: 1-1; 2012: 3-1).

This year marks the fourth time since 2005 that FSU and Stetson will square-off four times in the same year with two games being played on each team's home turf (2005, 2008 & 2012). Florida State is 11-1 over those three years combined outscoring Stetson 118-46.

Following its sweep of the Knights this past weekend, Florida State improved to 15-2 against schools from the Sunshine State.

The Seminoles will start RHP Peter Miller on Tuesday while Stetson will send out LHP Adam Schaly. Neither team has announced a starting pitcher for Wednesday.
