Release 19: Miami Game Notes in PDF Format TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - In the most played series in school history for both teams, Florida State (29-9, 12-6 ACC) welcomes in-state rival and ACC foe Miami (28-9, 14-4 ACC) to Tallahassee for a three-game series this weekend. Friday's game marks the 259th meeting between these two rivals as the Seminoles lead the all-time series 136-118-4. Florida State has held the advantage at home against the Canes posting an all-time record of 71-53-2 inside the friendly confines of Dick Howser Stadium. Recently, Miami has held the upper hand on the Noles' home turf winning the last three series played in Tallahassee. FSU's last series victory on its home turf dates back to 2003 when the Seminoles took 2-of-3 from UM.
In 2008, Florida State captured the first game of the regular season series in Coral Gables thanks to a season-high seven home runs before dropping the next two. The Noles evened the season series with a 4-2 victory in pool play of the ACC Tournament in Durham, N.C. The win snapped a four-game losing streak to Miami on neutral soil, while it was the first victory over their intra-state rival in the ACC Tournament. The game also features two coaches that rank in the top 10 among NCAA Winningest Active Division I coaches by both winning percentage and victories including Florida State's Mike Martin (first in winning percentage and third in victories) and Jim Morris - (eighth in winning percentage and fifth in victories).
