Game Notes vs. FGCU

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Top-ranked Florida State (22-5) returns home for the first time in over two weeks as the Seminoles welcome Florida Gulf Coast (18-10) to Tallahassee for a one game match-up Tuesday night at 6 p.m. on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium.

The Seminoles welcome FGCU to Tallahassee for the fourth year in a row. FSU leads the all-time series 5-1 with all six previous games in the series being played on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium.

Last year in a 12-9 Florida State victory, a sixth inning grand slam by Stephen McGee proved to be the difference. The Seminoles scored five runs in the third and sixth innings and then held off the Eagles' late charge. FSU finished the game out hitting FGCU 12-11.

FGCU's only win in the series came in 2012 when the Eagles held the Seminoles to just three hits en route to a 5-1 victory. Three of the six contests have been decided by three runs or less, while Florida State posted its largest margin of victory of 11 runs in a 13-2 win in 2011.

The two schools first met in 2009 in Tallahassee with the Seminoles winning both games by scores of 13-3 and 11-9.

Florida State will start right hander Peter Miller (1-2, 5.95 ERA) on Tuesday night, while Florida Gulf Coast will send out Brady Anderson (1-1, 3.29 ERA) who is making his first start of the season.

The game will be streamed live over the internet on the Seminoles.com All-Access player. Audio will also be available on the All-Access player. Locally fans can listen to the game on 1270 AM.
