TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Coming off a 3-1 week which included a tough weekend series victory over FIU, eighth-ranked Florida State (6-1) will head to Clearwater for an exhibition game against the 2011 National League East champion Philadelphia Phillies on Wednesday, February 29. First pitch is at 1:05 p.m. inside Bright House Field, home of the Phillies spring training facility.
Wednesday will kick start the 2012 MLB spring training schedule as the Seminoles and Phillies are set to face-off for the third year in a row. It also marks the only game on the MLB schedule for Wednesday.
"When you play the Philadelphia Phillies, it creates a memory that will stay with our players forever," said head coach Mike Martin. "This game is just something the young men benefit from. We are very appreciative to the City of Clearwater and the Philadelphia Phillies organization for inviting us again to participate in this game."
Florida State is scheduled to take batting practice on the field beginning at 10:50 a.m., followed by infield practice at 12:10 p.m. The Phillies will hit the field for infield warm-up at 12:20 p.m.
