AT TALLAHASSEE

POST GAME QUOTES

GAME ONE:

STETSON3
MISSISSIPPI STATE6

STETSON HEAD COACH
Pete Dunn

"I'm very disappointed in our play. Obviously the loss is the main thing. I'm very disappointed in our play. Come out in a big game, we have to play a near perfect game to have a chance to win not only the game but the tournament. We ended up making five errors and I think we punched out 10 times so that is not a recipe for wins. We were certainty disappointed about that. I thought Ingo (Chris Ingoglia) did a nice job. We had opportunities in the game to put some runs up on the board. I think twice we had runners on first and second with no outs and the middle part of the lineup, left handed hitters up as well and we didn't put anything up on the board. So that was, we will call it the turning point. It kind of set the tone. They kept getting out of trouble and we had an opportunity to put some on the board and of course Ingo was pitching very well."

STETSON PLAYER:

Chris Ingolia

"You know you look at those errors but I don't think any of those runs that scored were unearned. I mean being up in that situation at the time is tough. But I was able to get out of the inning without any of the runs scoring that would have been unearned. It's frustrating when you go out there, but the bottom line is, if we're not scoring, it's my job as the pitcher to keep the score low, to keep it to zero. Three years now we come out here and take the first loss and it is frustrating and disappointing."

MISSISSIPPI STATE HEAD COACH
Ron Polk

"We pitched well. We gave up a couple of well-hit balls to the middle of the lineup. (Braedyn) Pruitt took some good cuts and we made a bad pitch to him. I thought we pitched very well, we needed to. We didn't score a lot of runs. They gave us a lot of opportunities to extend the lead with a couple of cheap hits, but then again we did hit the ball hard. We got a couple of timely hits, but it's good to win the first ballgame, give the kids a chance to not wake up early for a pre-game meal. Tomorrow they can sleep in."

MISSISSIPPI STATE PLAYERS:

Mitch Moreland

"I think at the time we had only given up one hit. Their pitcher did a great job early. He got ahead of us early, mixed pitches as well. It was a first pitch fastball, I got behind it as well. Next pitch fast ball, I got him."

Chad Crosswhite

"That's just baseball. Sometimes errors happen, miscommunications. I thought my defense did really good throughout the day. I thought the hitters got some runs out there and then it was just cruise control. All and all, it was a good game."

"The heat got to me. It's hotter than it usually is."

Joseph McCaskill

"We had some good at bats. I think it is coming back together like it was at the beginning of the season. We got back in double digit hits, something we haven't done in a while.

"In the SEC Tournament, we faced two of the first round picks probably. We hit the ball well, swung the bat well. I feel we carried that over. A lot of us are seeing the ball a lot better. We had a lot of time to work on different drills, Something we weren't able to do during the season because we didn't have time."

Jeffrey Rea
(on tying career hits record)

"It was a bang-bang play. I thought it could have gone either way. We had some tough calls today. I just said, forget it, I am going to put the ball in play and see what happens. I got a big-hop ground ball and was able to beat it out. It's an honor to pass those guys on the list."
