TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Fourth-ranked Florida State (31-11) fell to Le Moyne (25-23) 3-1 in the first of a three-game series on Mike Martin Field inside Dick Howser Stadium. Game one on Saturday was the resumption of Friday night's game which was suspended after five innings due to rain and poor field conditions.

The Seminoles left 11 runners stranded in game one including four in the final four innings on Saturday.

The best scoring opportunity for the Seminoles after the game resumed came in the seventh when the Garnet and Gold loaded the bases with no body out but failed to get a run across. Tyler Holt and Stephen Cardullo put together back-to-back singles, while Mike McGee followed with a walk. With the bases loaded, Stuart Tapley took the first pitch he saw from Le Moyne reliever Jeff Tardiff and lined it right back to the mound. The Dolphin pitcher snared the line drive and then threw over to first to get McGee for the double play. Tardiff then got Jayce Boyd to line out to right to maintain the Dolphins 3-1 lead.

Le Moyne's Cory Nelson (2-5) picked up the victory working five innings and giving up just one run on seven hits. Tardiff started for the Dolphins on Saturday and pitched the final four innings to earn his first save of the season. The junior right hander kept the Noles scoreless allowing just two hits, while issuing three walks.

Sean Gilmartin (6-4) suffered the loss as he allowed three runs on five hits in 5.0 innings of work on Friday. Geoff Parker threw the final four innings for the Seminoles on Saturday giving up three hits as he walked one and struck out a batter.

Holt, Cardullo and McGee each registered two hits in game one, while McGee drove in the lone run for the Seminoles on an RBI double in the fifth.

Both teams were held scoreless through the first three innings in game one. The Seminoles left five runners on during that span including two runners in both the first and second innings. FSU had runners at second and third and only one out in the second but could not push a run across as Le Moyne starter Cory Nelson got Parker Brunelle to pop up to second and Holt to groundout to third.

Gilmartin faced the minimum through the first three innings with the Dolphins' first hit coming off the bat of Ryan Mahoney with one out in the third. He would be eliminated from the base paths as Brunelle threw him out trying to steal second on a ball in the dirt.

Le Moyne struck first on Friday night scoring three runs in the top of the fourth to take a 3-0 lead. Matt Marra accounted for the first run of the game dropping a bloop single to right scoring Zach Wiley from third after he led off the inning with a single to center. On the very next pitch, the Dolphins pushed their lead to three as Chris Edmondson connected on a two-run shot to left for his team leading 10th home run of the season.

The Seminoles once again got runners on base after singles by Sherman Johnson and James Ramsey in the fourth but could not crack the scoreboard as Nelson got Brunelle swinging on strikes for the third out of the inning.

Florida State finally broke through with a run in the bottom of the fifth before play was halted. Holt dropped a single just inside the right field foul line and scored all the way from first as McGee laced a double off the wall in centerfield.

The Le Moyne offense picked up where they left off following the resumption of game one as Wiley and Brett Botsford led off the top of the sixth with back-to-back singles off Seminole reliever Geoff Parker. But two base running miscues cost the Dolphins as Wiley was thrown out by Brunelle trying to steal third and then Marra, who drew a walk, was picked off first base by the Seminole catcher. Geoff Parker got out of the inning unscathed as he got Edmondson to fly out to right.
