TALLAHASSEE, FL -- A sacrifice fly by Florida designated hitter Brian Haught sparked a five-run 10th-inning as the No. 4 Gators (10-4) defeated No. 25 Florida State (11-7), 10-5, in front of 4,438 fans at Dick Howser Stadium.
Florida's Josh Fogg (3-0) shut down the Seminoles as he struck out seven batters in 4 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win for the Gators. Fogg gave up four hits, but did not surrender a run or a walk.
The Seminoles walked four batters and committed three errors as they gave up five runs in the final inning. Rightfielder Greg Catalanotte scored the game-winning run on Haught's sacrifice fly for the only earned run of the inning.
Florida shortstop Mark Ellis contributed two hits, including a solo home run in the third inning, while Catalanotte had three hits on the day.
FSU third baseman Jose Zabala belted three hits and scored two runs. Leftfielder Karl Jernigan had two hits, including an RBI-triple.
Lefthander Mike DiBlasi (0-1) gave up two runs on one hit and three walks in the loss. He struck out two batters in the 1 2/3 inning outing.
FSU starting pitcher Wes Crawford allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out five batters in 6 1/3 innings. He left the game in the seventh inning with a 5-4 lead.
