Baseball Hits the Citadel in a 15-5 Victory
No. 25 FSU improves to 10-6 on the season.

TALLAHASSEE, FL -- Right-handed pitcher Jon McDonald struck out four batters and six Seminole batters belted two or more hits as No. 25 Florida State (10-6) defeated The Citadel (3-6), 15-5, in front of 1,012 fans at Dick Howser Stadium.
McDonald (1-2) surrendered two runs on six hits and three walks in five innings as he picked up his first win of the season.
The Citadel jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning sparked by an RBI-basehit by first baseman Phillip Hartig. The Bulldogs would then be held scoreless until the eighth inning when FSU reliever Zach Diaz gave up three runs on four hits.
The Seminoles tied up the score in the bottom of the first inning as second baseman Brooks Badeaux reached base on an error and third baseman Jose Zabala belted a double. Badeaux scored on a ground ball out and leftfielder Brian Cox knocked in Zabala with a basehit to center field to tie the score at 2-2.
Florida State took a 4-2 lead in the third inning as first baseman Kevin Cash led off with a basehit and catcher Jeremy Salazar walked. Cox advanced the runners to second and third. Designated hitter Henry Mayfield reached base on error by first baseman Phillip Hartig and in the process drove in Cash and Salazar. Mayfield led the Seminoles with two hits and three RBI. Cox knocked in two runs on three hits in the game.
Right-hander Brian Wiley (1-2) gave up four runs on four hits and five walks in three innings as he took the loss for the Bulldogs.
Florida State will play the Tampa Bay Devils Rays in the expansion team's first ever exhibition game tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. The game will be held at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg.
