HONOLULU, HI -- Centerfielder Brian Cox drove in three runs on three hits and rightfielder Matt Diaz belted two hits and recorded a pair of RBI as the No. 18 Florida State Seminoles (5-3) to a 7-2 victory over No. 20 Hawaii (11-2) in front of 1,003 fans at Rainbow Stadium.

Cox had a pair of doubles and Matt Diaz added a triple as FSU blasted five extra-basehits in the victory.

Lefthander Zach Diaz (2-0) retired his first six batters in relief of righthander John Bentley, earning his second victory of the season. Diaz did not allow a run, gave up four hits and struck out three batters in five innings of relief.

Florida State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning as centerfielder Brian Cox belted a two-run double scoring DH Kevin Cash and catcher Jeremy Salazar. The Seminoles added two more runs as rightfielder Matt Diaz drove home Salazar and first baseman Matt Woodward with a triple to rightfield in the fifth inning to give FSU a 4-0 advantage.

The Rainbows answered with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning as righthander John Bentley loaded the bases as he hit two batters and allowed a basehit by shortstop Michael Dartt. Diaz relieved Bentley with no outs and Hawaii scored its runs on back-to-back sacrafice flies by rightfielder Neal Honma and catcher Lars Hansen.
