At Florida State: Experienced infielder who will open as the starter at second base in his final season at Florida State...hit .317 with 17 runs scored and 15 RBI in the final 17 games of the 2003 season...the only senior on the roster that has spent all four seasons at FSU...majority of his 165 starts have come at second base over the last three years.

Junior Year (2003): Regained his job as the starter at second during the Miami series...opened the season 4-for-10 vs. VMI with a team-best five runs scored...went 2-for-4 at Stanford (2/8)...started the Saturday and Sunday games (2/8-2/9) against Stanford at shortstop while Stephen Drew was out with a stomach virus...went 1-for-3 vs. Clemson as the DH...started all three games as the DH at Miami...went 2-for-4 with a run scored in 6-4 win over Miami (4/19)...second on the team with a .471 batting average (8-for-17) in the six-game series vs. Miami...had three doubles and a .545 on-base percentage vs. the Hurricanes...went 3-for-4 at Maryland (5/10) with three RBI, one double and one triple...went 2-for-4 with a homer at Maryland (5/11)...20-for-61 (.328) in the final 17 games with 2 HR, 5 2B, 1 3B, 17 Runs and 15 RBI...raised average from .225 to .267 to end the season...season-high three hits vs. NC State in the ACC Tournament...hit .333 (5-for-15) in the NCAA Regional...went 2-for-5 with a double and a home run in game two vs. South Alabama (6/1)...went 1-for-8 with an RBI double in the Super Regional series against Texas.

Sophomore Year (2002): Hit a home run in his first at bat of the season and tied a career-high with three RBI at Hawaii-Hilo (1/26)...went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored against then-No. 1 Stanford (2/9)...had a home run and a double while going 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI against Western Carolina (2/26)...tied a career- high with three hits on three different occasions (Appalachian State, Virginia and NC State) ...went 3-for-4 with three runs scored in the second game of a doubleheader at Virginia (March 16)... went 5-for-13 (.385) with six runs scored and two RBI in the series at Wake Forest...knocked in two runs and an RBI while going 3-for-4 with a double vs. NC State (Apr. 27)...had a five consecutive multi-RBI games from April 28 to May 7...finished fifth on the team with a .359 batting average in ACC play...fourth on the team with 10 stolen bases...started 70 of FSU's 74 games at second base...led the team with 15 hit by pitch...had a season-high six at bats twice (at Hawaii, at Miami).

Freshman Year (2001): Started 56 games and played in 57 in his rookie season...made one start at shortstop against Stanford (2/10) with the other 55 coming at second base...led the team with 152 assists and was third with 123 putouts ...ranked seventh with a .282 batting average...had the best average among all infielders...was fourth on the team in runs scored with 50...batted leadoff in 39 games...second behind only Karl Jernigan with 14 hit by pitch...hit .323 with seven doubles in conference games...went 3-for-4 with three RBI and a double at Maryland (5/5)...had three other three-hit games -- Northern Iowa (3/13), Duke (5/11) and Georgia Tech (5/17)... knocked in three runs on 3/10 vs. Virginia with a double and home run...second home run of the season came against NC State on 3/18...hit safely in 15 of last 20 games of the season.

Prep: An all-state, all-county and all-area selection as a senior at Wellington...awarded the school's gold glove award as the top defensive player.

Personal: Born May 27, 1981...cousin, Jeff Brassow, played basketball at Kentucky...brother, Scott Zech, was a former FSU standout infielder from 1994-97...majoring in Social Science.
