Second Team All-ACC performer who returns as the starter
in left field…finished seventh in the ACC with a .376 batting
average…his 26 doubles ranked second in the ACC and
24th nationally...had a .402 batting average in conference play
which placed him fourth in the ACC…voted to the NCAA Tallahassee
Regional All-Tournament team…hit .417 (10-for-24) in
NCAA postseason play…recorded 28 multi-hit games on the
season.
2002 AS A SOPHOMORE: Selected to the All-ACC sec-ond
team as an outfielder...took over as the starter in left for
All-American John-Ford Griffin and responded with a breakout
season...finished seventh in the ACC with a .376 batting
average...his 26 doubles ranked second in the ACC and 24th
nationally...had a .402 batting average in conference play, which
placed him fourth in the ACC...also ranked fourth in the conference
with 49 walks…hit the first home run of his career at
Hawaii (2/2)...went 3-for-3 with two RBI and three doubles
against Arizona State on February 16...went 4-for-5 with a triple,
a run scored and an RBI at Virginia (March 15)...recorded 28
multi-hit games on the year, including seven games with
three or more hits...went 3-for-3 with two runs, an RBI and
a double in the second game of a doubleheader at Virginia
(March 16) ...had a career-high five RBI vs. Georgia Tech
on April 21 after going 2-for-3 with two runs, a double and
a home run...led the ACC in triples (3) in conference
play...season on-base percentage of .487 ranked sixth in
the ACC…second only to Clemson’s Khalil Greene with an
on base percentage of .522 in conference action...second
on the team with a .402 average in ACC play...had a slugging
percentage of .713 against conference opponents
...went 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, a double and a triple
against Duke in the opening round of the ACC Tournament...
went 6-for-14 with four doubles and five runs scored
in the Tallahassee Regional...hit .417 (10-24) in the 2002
postseason.
2001 AS A FRESHMAN: Played in 27 games and made
his only two starts of the season in the first two games of the
year against Western Kentucky…scored a season-high two
runs in the second game vs. WKU (2/4)…collected two hits
against Akron on 3/21…had a two-run double vs. St. Joseph’s
on 3/6…five of his seven hits were doubles.
PREP: A Team One National Showcase participant and a
first team 5A all-state selection as a senior…the Gainesville
Sun Player of the Year in 2000…a USA Today honorable mention
All-American…named to the Gainesville Sun all-area team
following sophomore, junior and senior seasons…received all-state
honorable mention in 1999…recognized as one of Fox
Sports Top 100 players in 2000…involved in FBLA and peer
counseling…attended the same high school as FSU All-American
Marshall McDougall.
PERSONAL: Played summer baseball in 1999 with the
Ohio Warhawks and in 2000 with the Orlando Express
…born on December 24, 1981…majoring in finance.
