Baseball...honored as the National Freshman Pitcher of the Year by the NCBWA...received first team ABCA All-Atlantic Region honors...earned first team All-ACC accolades becoming just the second freshman in Florida State history to earn such an honor (Jason Stidham, 3B, 2007)...named to the NCAA Tallahassee All-Region Team...capped off a fine freshman campaign posting a 12-3 record and a 3.49 ERA...led the ACC in wins and tied for the league lead in complete games with two...ranked third in the ACC in opponents batting average (.221) and tied for third in innings pitched (98.0)...ranked nationally in wins (t-5th), hits allowed per nine innings (42nd) and ERA (96th)...made his Seminole debut in game two of a doubleheader against Hofstra - threw 6.0 innings allowing just one run on seven hits to pick up his first collegiate victory...struck out a career-high nine batters in his second start against Auburn...became the Seminoles Friday night starter just three weeks into the season - a spot he would not relinquish the rest of the season...threw 8.0 innings of three hit ball in leading FSU to a 4-1 victory over Boston College in his Friday night debut...two complete games on the year with the first coming in a rain shortened, six inning victory over Grambling State...allowed just one run on two hits while striking out six Tiger hitters...was masterful in a complete game victory over Georgia in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional...limited the Bulldog offense to just two runs on five hits in nine innings and showed great command of his pitches going to a three ball count just twice...finished the game with six strikeouts and did not walk a batter for the first time in 15 starts...pitched six innings in leading FSU to an opening round victory over Boston College in the ACC Tournament...in his final start of the season, yielded two runs on four hits in between a pair of lengthy rain delays in game one of the NCAA Super Regional against Arkansas...went 1-1 with a save in three relief appearances...threw just one pitch in his first relief appearance against Florida in Jacksonville to register his first collegiate save...recorded a line out double play at second to end the bottom of the fifth before the game was called after five innings due to rain...recorded 6+ innings in 11 starts, while notching six or more strikeouts eight times...was also productive at the plate hitting .600 in 10 at-bats...recorded two doubles, four RBI and four runs scored.
HIGH SCHOOL: Three-time All-League honoree (2006-08)...earned All-California Interscholastic Federation accolades in 2007...in his first three seasons at Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, Calif., Gilmartin posted a batting average of .350 or better...pitched in 22 games as a junior posting a record of 3-0 while setting the school record for career and single-season saves with 10...registered 45 strikeouts while walking just 10 batters as a junior...participated in the National Classic Baseball Tournament in El Dorado High School in Placentia, Calif....named to the academic Honor Roll during his junior and senior years... drafted in the 31st round by the San Diego Padres in the 2008 MLB Draft.
