HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year varsity player who spent his freshman and sophomore years at Bloomingdale High School (alma mater of Tony Thomas, Jr. and Ryan Strauss) before transferring to Newsome High School to play out his final two a sophomore, the southpaw posted a 2-1 record with a 1.15 ERA while registering a complete game shutout at Newsome, Castellanos received All-County Honorable Mention as a senior in 2008, while leading Hillsborough County in strikeouts...posted a 3.43 ERA in nine starts...led the team in innings pitched (49.0) and strikeouts (87)...offensively, hit .321 with 25 hits in 78 at-bats...third on the team with 27 RBI...collected 14 runs, while belting three doubles and a pair of home runs...member of the 2006 Colt Team from Tampa, Fla., that captured the World Series Championship in Lafayette, Ind....was the winning pitcher in the semifinal game against Morgan Hill, Calif., which advanced his team into the championship finals...represented the United States in Australia as he was selected to play with U-18 Team Spalding at the 2006 Goodwill Series...drafted in the 38th round by the Houston Astros in the 2008 MLB Draft.
