There was a message to be shared with the youth in Leon County this week and with the help of over 20 FSU student-athletes that message got out. "SAY NO TO DRUGS!" Student-athletes from a variety of sports joined together to visit schools for the largest drug awareness campaign across America, Red Ribbon Week.

Red Ribbon Week is not only a chance for communities, organizations, and individuals to take a stance against the illegal use of drugs but it is also a week to commemorate the life of DEA Special Agent, Enrique "KiKi" Camarena. Camarena gave his life to fighting against illegal drugs and we honor him for his courageous work as a DEA Special Agent by continuing his efforts to create a drug free America.

As a group, our student-athletes were able to reach over 500 local elementary school students answering questions and explaining to them the many benefits of staying drug free. The elementary students were not the only ones that enjoyed their special visit however. "It was fun being able to spend time with the kids and tell them how important it is to stay drug free," says freshmen football player Lamarcus Brutus. "Hopefully we reached at least one child today and changed their life."
