Although their playing careers are over at Florida State, former Florida State Seminoles, Valerie Flournoy and Ochuko Jenije, joined current Seminole track and field athlete, Margo Zwerling, at Wakulla High School for "Literacy Week". Literacy Week was being held the week of January 23-27.

This past Friday, Flournoy, Zwerling, and Jenije, drove to Wakulla, Fla., to spend the morning with Wakulla High School students. While there, the three Seminoles spoke of the importance of reading. The Wakulla High School students were told that it was not only important to read in high school, but to establish a solid foundation for literacy that will carry them through postsecondary education and beyond.

Zwerling, is a native of Miami, Florida, where she is a senior who specializes in jumps. She is majoring in Exercise Science and minoring in Chemistry, Biology and Spanish. Flournoy competed for the Florida State track and field squad from 2007-10 while majoring in Business. She is currently getting her Master's in Sport Management. Jenije played football for the Seminoles while majoring in Sport Management and is getting his Master's in Higher Education.

These three Seminoles understand the importance of literacy and how a good foundation of reading can take any individual a long way in life. This trip to Wakulla was a success according to the several teachers and administration. They were very thankful for the time taken to come speak to their school.
