01/24/2012 Distance DominanceFSU's women dominated the mile and 3,000 meters at the Auburn Invitational 01/20/2012 Rust-Buster!FSU Indoor Track teams face strong fields at Auburn Invitational in Birmingham 11/20/2011 The Race Is On!The FSU women's cross country team is gunning for a national title, while the men hunt another podium finish 11/18/2011 NCAA-Ready!Seminole XC men and women return to NCAA Championships 11/12/2011 Broom, Broom!Seminole men and women sweep NCAA South Region cross country titles Arrived at Florida State in January 2011, transferring from Central Arizona junior college, where she earned All-American honors in both cross country and track (multiple events)...participating in her first cross country season for the Seminoles after running indoor and outdoor track in the spring...native of Kipsirwo, Kenya who now calls Tucson, Arizona home...comes from a legendary running family, which includes her brother and guardian Bernard Lagat, who is the American record-holder in the 1,500 meters. Track - 2011: Made her debut in an FSU uniform most memorable, winning the 800 indoors at the Razorback Invitational, and also contributed a leg to the fourth-place distance medley relay team...established an indoor collegiate best in the 800 (2:06.94) at the UW Husky Invitational, finishing fifth...scored as a member of the fifth-place distance medley relay at the ACC Indoor Championships and also advanced to the finals of the 800...scored in six outdoor meets for the Seminoles, establishing new personal bests in the 800 and 1,500...finished second in the 1,500 at the FSU Invitational (4:23.92) and a week later placed third at the Auburn Invitational in the 800 (2:06.99)...ran 4:21.53 in the 1,500 at the ACC Outdoor Championships, good for a sixth-place finish...assured herself a spot in the NCAA First Round when she dropped a personal best 2:05.67, winning the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational at Stanford....placed in both the 800 and 1,500 at the Carolina Invite...advanced from the preliminary round of the 800 at the NCAA First Round, but failed to make the finals. Prep/Previous Experience Starred at Central Arizona for two seasons in both cross country and track...finished fourth in 2009 NJCAA Cross Country Nationals and third in 2010, earning All-American honors...won multiple regional track titles in two seasons and capped her career at Central Arizona by being named Athlete of the Year at 2010 NJCAA Track Nationals, where she won the 1,500 and 3,000 steeplechase and placed third in the 800. Personal Majoring in nursing and sociology at Florida State after graduating from Central Arizona, where she was on the Dean's List in 2009 and 2010...aspires to be a professional track athlete...attended St. Monica's Girls High School before coming to the United States...has five sisters and three brothers...in addition to her brother Bernard Lagat, another brother - Robert Cheseret - is the only three-time Pac-10 Track Athlete of the Year, after starring at Arizona, where he was inducted in to the school's Hall of Fame...born March 1, 1989.
