TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State Athletics Student Services Department and The Ounce of Prevention Fund shared the holiday spirit and promoted the City of Tallahassee's continuing education and learning outside the classroom programs through a book donation at Caroline Brevard Elementary School on Thursday, December 8 at 11:00 a.m.

Senior track captain LaToya Legree (Lithonia, Ga./Stephenson), junior track team member Charlene Walker (Orlando, Fla./Edgewater) and associate head coach Harlis Meaders presented books to the 400 children that attend Brevard for their assigned reading over the winter break.

The elementary schools distribute books for reading over winter and spring recesses to foster continuing education outside of the classroom. The Ounce of Prevention Fund works with schools and institutions across the country to develop the health and well-being of children and provide educational services and resources.

FSU Athletics works with the national organization and the community throughout the year. In addition to the many programs the Seminoles participate in, FSU helped during the FCAT Relays and handed out books to help the same program last year.
